Recent Advances in the Synthesis of Indanes and Indenes
Chemistry – A European Journal, 2016AbstractIndanes and indenes are among the most important carbocycles. Many indane and indene derivatives have shown important pharmacological activities, and the indane and indene nuclei are structural motifs present in several natural products of biological relevance.

A synthesis of indane musk Celestolide
Journal of Chemical Education, 1992This convenient operation using only a calculated amount of tetrahydrofuran will help students understand that one of the real operative species in Grignard reaction is a complex of alkylmagnesium ...

A convergent approach to indolines and indanes
Tetrahedron Letters, 1999Abstract Radical addition of a xanthate to an N-allylanilide or to a substituted 4-aryl-1-butene followed by cyclisation onto the aromatic ring provide the corresponding indoline or indane respectively.

HERBICIDAL PROPERTIES OF SUBSTITUTED INDANS
Canadian Journal of Plant Science, 1969The mixed isomers 1,1-dimethyl-4,6-diisopropyl-5-indanyl ethyl ketone and 1,1-dimethyl-4,6-diisopropyl-7-indanyl ethyl ketone (substituted indans) were assessed for their herbicidal properties under field, greenhouse, and growth chamber conditions.

The stabilization of gallane and indane by a ring expanded carbene
Dalton Transactions, 20157Dipp Complexes of GaH3 and InH3 have been prepared. Despite high thermal stability in the solid state, both adducts decompose readily in solution at ambient temperature.

2-(2-Thiazolylhydrazono)indan-1,3-dione
Acta Crystallographica Section C Crystal Structure Communications, 1997The structural results clearly indicate that 2-(2-thiazolylhydrazono)indan-1,3-dione, C12H7N3O2S, exists as a keto-hydrazone tautomer in the solid state. The indandione and thiazolylhydrazone groups are connected by a C=N bond and the H atom bonded to N1 refines with a normal temperature factor. The entire molecule is essentially planar.
