Information Processing Letters, 2005We present the Event Trace Independence (ETI), a novel property of active rules exhibiting a behavior independent of the specific event sequence that had caused a state transition. When employed in a distributed setting, this property supersedes the classical property of confluence, which is not sufficient herein.

It has been shown that interaction among single haematin units does not affect the form of the rate equations for the catalatic reaction.

Electroencephalography and Clinical Neurophysiology, 1960Abstract Two indices of “activation”, Wenger's estimate of relative autonomic balance (Ā) and per cent-time alpha, were obtained from 42 male undergraduate subjects. No correlation was found between them. The indices were judged to measure independent functions, and it was concluded that a general “activation” theory of emotions is not yet justified.

Active singling out of shunt independence
Child's Nervous System, 1994The availability of telemetric devices for intracranial pressure (ICP) measurements in line with a multipurpose valve (MPV) was shown to be the ideal condition for safe investigation of the problem of shunt independence in 21 patients. After percutaneous closure of the shunt, all but 4 patients developed some degree of intracranial hypertension.

Trends in Endocrinology & Metabolism, 2020The target of rapamycin complex 2 (TORC2) was discovered in 2002 in budding yeast. Its mammalian counterpart, mTORC2, was first described in 2004. Soon thereafter it was demonstrated that mTORC2 directly phosphorylates Akt on Ser473, ending a long search for the elusive 'second' insulin-responsive Akt kinase.
