A Retrospective Review on Post Traumatic Agitation Predictors in Hospitalized Patients with Acute Traumatic Brain Injury

open access: yes, 2019
Objectives: To determine if socio-demographic, medical and radiological variables have an impact on the risk of developing post-traumatic agitation in patients with mild complex to severe Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

How variables on the morphology of an indivisible load plays an important role on the choice of the set of carriers and transport routes. The transportation of an electric capacitor in city areas

open access: yes, 2019
The transportation of an indivisible load also bears the core definition of load transportation in logistics - delivering a load, considering its starting point as far as its destination, the decision upon the best set of carriers and the best ...

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Independent AND-parallel implementation of narrowing

open access: yes, 1992
We present a parallel graph narrowing machine, which is used to implement a functional logic language on a shared memory multiprocessor. It is an extensión of an abstract machine for a purely functional language.

Biophysical approaches for studying viral entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Viruses infect all living organisms and have been responsible for major epidemics and pandemics. Their ongoing evolutionary battle with host defenses creates a constant need for improved tools to study viral behavior. Advancing methods to probe viral attachment, fusion, and genome release deepen our understanding of how infections begin and support the

Independent Detour Transversals in 3-Deficient Digraphs

open access: yesDiscussiones Mathematicae Graph Theory, 2013
In 1982 Laborde, Payan and Xuong [Independent sets and longest directed paths in digraphs, in: Graphs and other combinatorial topics (Prague, 1982) 173-177 (Teubner-Texte Math., 59 1983)] conjectured that every digraph has an independent detour ...
