Multimedia Indexing with the SMART system

Journal of Visual Languages & Computing, 2000
The storage and retrieval of multimedia data is a crucial problem in multimedia information systems due to the huge storage requirements. It is necessary to provide an efficient methodology for the indexing of multimedia data for rapid retrieval. The aim of this paper is to introduce a methodology to represent, simplify, store, retrieve and reconstruct

Structure of index invariant systems

1971 IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 1971
This paper introduces the concept of a controllability module and then uses it to study certain algebraic properties of index-invariant, time-varying, linear systems. It is shown that controllability modules possess a property similar to the pole placement property of controllability subspaces.

An Indexing System for SNOMED

Methods of Information in Medicine, 1986
SummaryA system for automated indexing based on the Systematized Nomenclature of Medicine . (SNOMED) is described. The fundamental algorithms are independent of SNOMED and can also be implemented for other target languages. The algorithms are implemented in a set of programs, the most important problems of which are discussed.

Complexity index for system diagnosability

IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, 1985
The concept of a dependable complexity index for a system is presented. The proposed complexity index reflects the cost of testing for a failed component in a system made up of several components and equipped with some detectors. The complexity measure is applied to determine an optimal number of detectors in a system.
