Checkpoint blockade and the stem‐like T cell trade‐off

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Stem‐like T cells are key to the success of programmed cell death protein 1 (PD1) blockade, as they sustain long‐term anti‐tumor response by continuously generating effector CD8+ T cells. However, how these cells are maintained in cancer is not fully understood. Hor et al.

A stochastic estimated version of the Italian dynamic General Equilibrium Model (IGEM) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We estimate with Bayesian techniques the Italian dynamic General Equilibrium Model (IGEM), which has been developed at the Italian Treasury Department, Ministry of Economy and Finance, to assess the effects of alter-native policy interventions.

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

The Inflationary Impact of Wage Indexation [PDF]

open access: yes
It is an open question whether and how indexed wage contracts reduce welfare or raise average inflation. This paper analyzes the impact of indexed wage contracts on inflation and social welfare in a Barro–Gordon model with discretionary monetary policy ...

Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. The long-run optimal degree of indexation in new Keynesian models with price staggering à la Calvo [PDF]

open access: yes
This note shows that full price indexation is not optimal in the long-run, in the New Keynesian model under trend inflation and price staggering à la Calvo.

KLK7 overexpression promotes an aggressive phenotype and facilitates peritoneal dissemination in colorectal cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KLK7, a tissue kallikrein‐related peptidase, is elevated in advanced colorectal cancer and associated with shorter survival. High KLK7 levels in ascites correlate with peritoneal metastasis. In mice, KLK7 overexpression increases metastasis. In vitro, KLK7 enhances cancer cell proliferation, migration, adhesion, and spheroid formation, driving ...

Inflation Targets and Stabilization in Chile [PDF]

open access: yes
Chile was among the first countries to adopt an inflation target. Its long inflation history had led to widespread backward-looking indexation in goods, labour, and financial markets as well as in policy instruments.

dUTPase is essential in zebrafish development and possesses several single‐nucleotide variants with pronounced structural and functional consequences

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
dUTPases are involved in balancing the appropriate nucleotide pools. We showed that dUTPase is essential for normal development in zebrafish. The different zebrafish genomes contain several single‐nucleotide variations (SNPs) of the dut gene. One of the dUTPase variants displayed drastically lower protein stability and catalytic efficiency as compared ...

Comparing New Keynesian models in the Euro area: a Bayesian approach [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper estimates and compares four versions of the sticky price New Keynesian model for the Euro area, using a Bayesian approach as described in Rabanal and Rubio-Ramírez (2003).
