Non-invasive Oscillometry-Based Estimation of Cardiac Output – Can We Use It in Clinical Practice?

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2021
While invasive thermodilution techniques remain the reference methods for cardiac output (CO) measurement, there is a currently unmet need for non-invasive techniques to simplify CO determination, reduce complications related to invasive procedures ...

Overestimation of Left Ventricular Volume by the Indicator Dilution Technique [PDF]

open access: yesCirculation Research, 1966
The applicability of the indicator dilution method to the measurement of left ventricular volume has been studied. When compared with angiocardiographic measurements, the dilution technique overestimates volume by an average of 52 and 91% in end diastole and end systole respectively.

Quantitative Determination of Common Urinary Odorants and Their Glucuronide Conjugates in Human Urine

open access: yesMetabolites, 2013
Our previous study on the identification of common odorants and their conjugates in human urine demonstrated that this substance fraction is a little-understood but nonetheless a promising medium for analysis and diagnostics in this easily accessible ...

Videodensitometric Methods for Cardiac Output Measurements

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2003
Cardiac output is often measured by indicator dilution techniques, usually based on dye or cold saline injections. Developments of more stable ultrasound contrast agents (UCA) are leading to new noninvasive indicator dilution methods.

Susceptibility of community associated methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus isolated from faeces to antiseptics

open access: yesJournal of Infection in Developing Countries, 2011
Introduction: The study aimed to investigate the resistance of methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), an indicator used in hospitals but isolated from faecal samples of children in the community, to commonly used antibiotics and antiseptic ...

Biological Nitrogen Fixation by Local and Improved Genotypes of Cowpea in Burkina Faso (West Africa): Total Nitrogen Accumulated can be used for Quick Estimation

open access: yesAdvances in Agriculture, 2018
Biological nitrogen fixation (BNF) by legumes is an indicator of their potential contribution to recycling nitrogen in cropping systems. Many techniques exist for the quantitative measurement of legume BNF. The isotopic dilution (ID) methods are the most

Serologic and molecular diagnostic and bioassay in mice for detection of Toxoplasma gondii in free ranges chickens from Pantanal of Mato Grosso do Sul

open access: yesPesquisa Veterinária Brasileira, 2012
The aim of this study was to investigate the occurrence of Toxoplasma gondii and compare the results obtained in the Modified Agglutination Test (MAT), Polimerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and bioassay in mice.

Use of Indicator Dilution Techniques in Measuring Combined Aortic and Mitral Insufficiency [PDF]

open access: yesCirculation Research, 1966
In patients with combined aortic and mitral valvular insufficiency, the combined regurgitant fraction across both valves has been shown to equal the product of the regurgitant fractions at each valve. This relationship was validated in nine patients, and in eight other patients was used to predict the degree of regurgitation at one valve when the ...

Measurement of Phloem Transport Rates by an Indicator-Dilution Technique [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 1990
An indicator-dilution technique for the measurement of flow rates, commonly used by animal physiologists for circulation measurements, was adapted to the measurement of phloem translocation rates in the wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) peduncle. The approach is based on the observation that, during the transport of a given amount of solute, its mean ...

Bedside Assessment of Cerebral Blood Flow by Double-indicator Dilution Technique

open access: yesAnesthesiology, 2000
Background Currently, quantitative measurement of global cerebral blood flow (CBF) at bedside is not widely performed. The aim of the present study was to evaluate a newly developed method for bedside measurement of CBF based on thermodilution in a clinical setting.
