Radioisotope Dilution Technique for Determination of Vitamin B12 in Foods

open access: yesJournal of AOAC INTERNATIONAL, 1982
Abstract A radioisotope dilution (RID) method for the determination of vitamin B12 is presented. The method combines a standard extraction procedure (AOAC 43.108,12th ed.) with a commercially available RID assay kit. The method was evaluated on a wide range of fortified and unfortified food products.

Highly sensitive assay of HMG-CoA reductase activity by LC-ESI-MS/MS

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2007
We have developed a new sensitive and specific nonradioisotope assay method to measure the activity of HMG-CoA reductase, the rate-controlling enzyme in the cholesterol biosynthetic pathway.

The marginated pool [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The pulmonary circulation harbors a large intravascular reservoir of leukocytes refered to as the Marginated Pool. This marginated pool is balanced by propeling and retaining forces acting on leukocytes during their passage through the pulmonary ...

A pyrazolopyran derivative preferentially inhibits the activity of human cytosolic hydroxymethyltransferase and induces cell death in lung cancer cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Serine hydroxymethyltransferase (SHMT) is a central enzyme in the metabolic reprogramming of cancer cells, providing activated one-carbon units in the serine-glycine one-carbon metabolism.

Venous occlusion plethysmography vs. Doppler ultrasound in the assessment of leg blood flow kinetics during different intensities of calf exercise [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
PurposeIt has recently been shown that venous occlusion plethysmography (VOP) can successfully assess the rate of increase in leg blood flow (LBF) (LBF kinetics) responses during calf exercise, but there is lack of data supporting its validity ...

Time resolved 2 million year old supernova activity discovered in Earth's microfossil record

open access: yes, 2016
Massive stars, which terminate their evolution as core collapse supernovae, are theoretically predicted to eject more than 1E-5 solar masses of the radioisotope 60Fe. If such an event occurs sufficiently close to our solar system, traces of the supernova

Polysaccharide-based self-assembling nanohydrogels: An overview on 25-years research on pullulan [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The aim of this overview is to review the evolution of the studies carried out, during more than 25 years, on nanohydrogels obtained by self-assembling of pullulan (PUL) using several hydrophobization strategies.

Simpler and More Accurate: Weighing the Mercury in Electrolytic Cells by Radiotracer Dilution Method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Weight of mercury in electrolytic cell of soda industry is usually measured gravimetrically, which is typical labor work in character. Error sources of the gravimetric method might have come from the fact that some mercury\u27s are usually trapped in the
