The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Path coefficient analysis studies in rice (Oryza sativa L.) for quantitative and qualitative traits
Path coefficient studies were carried out for yield and quality traits in 74 rice genotypes involving hybrids and their parental lines. Grains per panicle, productive tillers per plant and amylose content were significant and positive direct effects on ...

Direct and Indirect Effects in a Logit Model [PDF]
In this article, I discuss a method by Erikson et al. (2005, Proceedings of the National Academy of Science 102: 9730–9733) for decomposing a total effect in a logit model into direct and indirect effects. Moreover, I extend this method in three ways. First, in the original method the variable through which the indirect effect occurs is assumed to be ...

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Effect of three environments on the efficiency of indirect selection in Eragrostis curvula (lovegrass) genotypes [PDF]
A significant genotype environment interaction can limit gains in selecting superior genotypes since the best genotype in one locality may not be the best one in another locality. The efficiency of indirect selection is related to the heritability of the

Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...
