Perspective-dependent Indirect Touch Input for 3D Polygon Extrusion

Adjunct Proceedings of the 28th Annual ACM Symposium on User Interface Software & Technology, 2015
We present a two-handed indirect touch interaction technique for the extrusion of polygons within a 3D modeling tool that we have built for a horizontal/vertical dual touch screen setup. In particular, we introduce perspective-dependent touch gestures: using several graphical input areas on the horizontal display, the non-dominant hand navigates the ...

Indirect Extrusion of Tial-Based Intermetallics From Elemental Powders Metallurgy

Journal of Iron and Steel Research, International, 2007
Abstract Powder metallurgy has been successfully adopted in synthesizing intermetallic compounds based on TiAl. Indirect hot extrusion of elemental powder mixtures resulted in rods of about 2cm in diameter with the compositions based on Ti-46.6Al-1.4Mn-2Mo-0.3C (−0.33Y) (all in at.%).

Modelling the Thermo-Mechanical Behavior of Magnesium Alloys during Indirect Extrusion

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2010
One of the basic metal forming process for semi‐finished products is extrusion. Since extrusion involves complex thermo‐mechanical and multiaxial loading conditions resulting in large strains, high strain rates and an increase in temperature due to deformation, a proper yield criterion and hardening law should be used in the numerical modelling of the ...

Velocity Field in Direct, Indirect and Friction Assisted Extrusion of Al

Key Engineering Materials, 2013
This study investigates the velocity fields that are descriptive for the forward, backward and friction assisted extrusion of axisymmetric rods. The Avitzur theory was used to calculate the velocity field and strain rate in extrusion of Al alloys. Several simulations have also been performed by using finite element analysis (FEA) with DEFORM 2D, in ...

Evolution of surface recrystallization during indirect extrusion of 6xxx aluminum alloys

Metallurgical and Materials Transactions A, 2005
The fundamentals of coarse grain surface recrystallized structure formation in extrusion of 6xxx aluminum alloys are not yet completely understood. The objective of this article is to understand the metallurgical origins and mechanisms of the formation of the peripheral coarse grain (PCG) structure as the first step to understanding surface behavior of

Assessment of clay consistency through conventional methods and indirect extrusion tests

Applied Clay Science, 2014
The consistency of fine-grained soil is an essential parameter in soil mechanics. The most relevant consistency indices are the liquid limit and the plastic limit. The liquid limit is commonly determined through the Casagrande test or the fall cone test, while the plastic limit is determined through the hand rolling method. The greatest issue with some

Direct and indirect extrusion of a high strength aerospace alloy (AA 7075)

Journal of Mechanical Working Technology, 1982
Abstract There is renewed industrial interest in the process of indirect extrusion because lower pressures are required and the greater homogeneity of deformation produces a surface structure which is less heavily worked than in the direct process. The parameters which limit the extrusion process are the available press pressure and surface effects ...

Fabrication of Copper Clad Aluminum Wire (CCAW) by Indirect Extrusion and Drawing

Materials Science Forum, 2004
The optimized extrusion conditions from the present research were the extrusion temperature of 573~623K and the extrusion ratio(A0/A) of 21.39. Above the extrusion temperature of 623K, the fracture of sheath material was observed. It is due to the difference of flow stress between the sheath material and the core material during extrusion process.

Indirect Additive Manufacturing (Material Extrusion) as a Solution to a New Concept of Cutting Tools

World PM2022 Proceedings, 2022
A cermet grade with TiCN as major phase and 15wt.% Co/Ni as the binder and secondary carbides WC, Mo2C and NbC was selected for indirect additive manufacturing (Material Extrusion). These powder constituents were the primary material of feedstocks to produce filaments for the indirect AM process - Material Extrusion (MEX). The filaments result from the

Automatic Repetitive Remapping Applied to the Solution of Indirect Extrusion

Recent Advances in Solids and Structures, 2001
Abstract This paper describes automatic repetitive remapping applied to the solution of indirect extrusion. The application for indirect extrusion is microforging. The remapping algorithm and automatic remapping are critical in the Lagrangian solution of indirect extrusion. The FEA prediction agrees with a closed form solution of the die
