Microstructure and mechanical properties of binary Mg–Sn alloys subjected to indirect extrusion

Materials Science and Engineering: A, 2010
The microstructure and mechanical properties of extruded Mg–Sn alloys with 6–10%Sn were investigated. Tensile and compressive strengths increased and yield asymmetry reduced with Sn addition. These changes are attributed to grain refinement and fine Mg2Sn precipitates. However, Mg–10%Sn alloy showed relatively poor tensile ductility due to the presence

Using peroxides for direct (reactive-extrusion) and indirect (compounding) upcycling of Polypropylene

2021

Force plane diagrams for slip line fields of indirect type for end-extrusion

International Journal of Mechanical Sciences, 1989
Abstract The paper presents some force plane diagrams for slip line fields for end-extrusion through square dies with slipping friction on die and container faces. These diagrams are constructed using a computational procedure based on a nonlinear optimization technique.

Study of Temperature Evolution and Metal Flow of 6005A Aluminum Alloy during Indirect Extrusion

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2011
A numerical model has been build up to study temperature evolution and metal flow for the indirect extrusion of 6005A aluminium alloy. Model validation was carried out by comparison between experiments and simulations. Results show a good agreement with each other. The influence of the extrusion parameters on the profile temperature and metal flow were

Characterization of Deformation Mechanics and Microstructure Evolution During Indirect Extrusion in Small Length Scales

Volume 2: Materials; Biomanufacturing; Properties, Applications and Systems; Sustainable Manufacturing, 2015
In situ characterization of mechanics of deformation including dynamic strain, strain-rate and rotation of material elements was performed in prototypical small length-scale forming operation- indirect extrusion (IE) of commercially pure Lead (Pb) and Aluminum (Al 1100) using Digital Image Correlation (DIC) technique. Effects of scaling and deformation

Slip-line fields of indirect type for end extrusion through partly rough square dies

International Journal of Mechanical Sciences, 1988
Abstract New slip-line field solutions are proposed for end extrusion through square dies with slipping friction at the workpiece-die interfaces. The fields are of indirect type and are analysed by the matrix method. The variation of the mean steady state extrusion pressure with reduction has been computed for these fields.

Extrudability and Bonding Strength of Copper Clad Aluminum Alloy Composites Produced by Indirect Extrusion Process

Advanced Materials Research, 2007
This paper described extrudability and bonding strength of copper (TPC) clad aluminum alloy (pure Al, Al3003, Al5005, and Al7072) composites produced by indirect extrusion at 350°C with extrusion ratio of 21.39. Conical typed die with semi angle of 30°. Carbon oil was used to reduce the friction between billet/sleeve and billet/die.
