Establishing Age- and Sex-Specific Reference Intervals for Thyroid Function Tests in the Older People of Eastern Anatolia: A Population-Based Indirect Approach

open access: yesMedicina
Background and Objectives: Given that hormone levels vary with age, the application of age-specific reference intervals in older populations is clinically essential. In this study, we aimed to establish age- and sex-specific reference intervals (RIs) for

Radiative capture reactions via indirect methods

open access: yesPhysical Review C, 2017
In this paper we address the indirect method, which can provide a powerful technique to obtain information about radiative capture reactions at astrophysically relevant energies. The idea of the indirect method is to use the indirect reaction $A(a, s\, )F$ to obtain information about the radiative capture reaction $A(x,\, )F$, where $a=(s\,x)$ and $F=

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Dammarenediol II enhances etoposide‐induced apoptosis by targeting O‐GlcNAc transferase and Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling in liver cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

The Direct and The Indirect as Paired Forensic Categories

open access: yesВестник Кемеровского государственного университета. Серия: гуманитарные и общественные науки
The categories of the direct and the indirect can be classified as paired. The author applied standard and interdisciplinary research methods to the direct and the indirect as criminalistic categories. The article is a review that investigates the direct

Extreme Theory of Functional Connections with Receding Horizon Control for Aerospace Applications

open access: yesMathematics
This paper introduces a novel closed-loop optimal controller that integrates the Extreme Theory of Functional Connections (X-TFC) with receding horizon control (RHC), referred to as X-TFC-RHC. The controller reformulates a sequence of linearized or quasi-

Breakup of loosely bound nuclei as indirect method in nuclear astrophysics: 8B, 9C, 23Al

open access: yes, 2005
We discuss the use of one-nucleon breakup reactions of loosely bound nuclei at intermediate energies as an indirect method in nuclear astrophysics. These are peripheral processes, therefore we can extract asymptotic normalization coefficients (ANC) from ...
