La représentation des individus d’une espèce animale devant le juge français

open access: yesVertigO, 2015
The animal is protected by French criminal law against abuses and cruelty. To give effect to this protection, the Code of Criminal Procedure allows animal welfare associations to exercice civil action to defend the interests of animals victims of such ...

Group membership affects spontaneous mental representation : Failure to represent the out-group in a joint action task

open access: yes, 2013
Predicting others’ actions is crucial to successful social interaction. Previous research on joint action, based on a reaction-time paradigm called the Joint Simon Task, suggests that successful joint action stems from the simultaneous representation of ...

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Indirect speech in Serbian and Russian [PDF]

open access: yesJužnoslovenski Filolog, 2016
The paper discusses syntactic constructions with indirect speech in Serbian and Russian and the models of representing somebody else`s speech with those constructions in both languages.

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Comparing Direct and Indirect Representations for Environment-Specific Robot Component Design [PDF]

open access: yes2019 IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation (CEC), 2019
We compare two representations used to define the morphology of legs for a hexapod robot, which are subsequently 3D printed. A leg morphology occupies a set of voxels in a voxel grid. One method, a direct representation, uses a collection of Bezier splines. The second, an indirect method, utilises CPPN-NEAT.

Solving Eco-Driving Problems using Indirect Collocation Method and Smooth Representation

open access: yes2021 American Control Conference (ACC), 2021
This letter discusses the eco-driving problem, considering both electric and conventional powertrains, and presents a pathway to solving it numerically using an indirect collocation method. Despite the low-order system dynamics, the piecewise fuel/efficiency map, gear shifting, and real-world traffic/road situations bring system discontinuities ...

Deep learning for free indirect representation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In this paper, we present our work-inprogress to automatically identify free indirect representation (FI), a type of thought representation used in literary texts.

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Rayleigh's, Stoneley's, and Scholte's Interface Waves in Elastic Models Using a Boundary Element Method

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2012
This work is focused on studying interface waves for three canonical models, that is, interfaces formed by vacuum-solid, solid-solid, and liquid-solid. These interfaces excited by dynamic loads cause the emergence of Rayleigh's, Stoneley's, and Scholte's
