The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

A Case of Dog Bite Identification Using Trace DNA Recovered from Clothing Without Apparent Bite Marks

open access: yesAnimals
Dog bite incidents represent a significant public health concern, and DNA analysis, in addition to morphological comparison, has been recognized as a useful tool for identifying the offending dog.

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Modeling body height estimation from head circumference according to age in infants from birth to 12 months

open access: yesFolia Morphologica
BACKGROUND: Body height is an important measurement in the forensic identification of an individual. This study aimed to estimate height from head circumference measurements representative of the population according to age and to create a model for age ...

Word and Gender Identification in the Speech of Transgender Individuals

open access: yesJournal of Voice
Listeners use speech to identify both linguistic information, such as the word being produced, and indexical attributes, such as the gender of the speaker. Previous research has shown that these two aspects of speech perception are interrelated. It is important to understand this relationship in the context of gender-affirming voice training (GAVT ...

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

The Vaginal Microbiota Analysis by Polymerase Chain Reaction-high-resolution Melting

open access: yesJournal of Forensic Science and Medicine
Background: The vaginal microbiota is individually characteristic and forensically promising, yet current detection methods are often too time-consuming or costly for rapid preliminary screening. Aims: The vaginal microbiota from healthy and reproductive-

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...
