The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

A Preventive Transient Stability Control Strategy Through Individual Machine Equal Area Criterion Framework

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
Power system transient stability assessment (TSA) and control is a complex problem. TSA from the perspective of individual machine Kimbark curves forms a distinctive approach. On the other hand, transient stability constrained optimal power flow (TSC-OPF)

Individual Explanations in Machine Learning Models: A Survey for Practitioners

open access: yesCoRR, 2021
In recent years, the use of sophisticated statistical models that influence decisions in domains of high societal relevance is on the rise. Although these models can often bring substantial improvements in the accuracy and efficiency of organizations, many governments, institutions, and companies are reluctant to their adoption as their output is often

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Does machine learning outperform logistic regression in predicting individual tree mortality?

open access: yesEcological Informatics
Tree mortality is a crucial process in forest dynamics and a key component of forest growth models and simulators. Factors like competition, drought, and pathogens drive tree mortality, but the underlying mechanism is challenging to model.

Cyber equipping 4.0 – fe-simulation-based setting instructions for a rotary draw-bending machine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The tool setting process for rotary draw-bending is very complex. Only experienced machine operators know which settings lead to a good result in relation to the bending task.

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.
