Comparing Mask R-CNN and Mask2Former architectures for individual tree crown delineation

Weather anomalies caused by the anthropogenic climate crisis challenge environmental workers such as foresters with an increasing number of responsibilities. In addition to providing attractive conditions for new generations of workers, deep-learning tools can ease processes for better efficiency.

Effects of tree crown delineation in individual tree species classification with hyperspectral and LiDAR data

The effect of tree crown delineation on tree species classification using hyperspectral and LiDAR data was analyzed in this study. We considered a manual and an automatic crown extraction procedure. The results showed that crown delineation influenced the classification results.
