On the splitting of main currents in the Indonesian seas
Oceans '02 MTS/IEEE, 2005A regional baroclinic model of the Indonesian seas circulation, based on the Princeton Ocean Model, has been developed. Fifteen levels in the vertical are chosen to resolve the vertical structure of the circulation. The horizontal resolution of about 10 km provides a sufficiently accurate description of the bottom topography in the area.

Existence of eddies at crossroad of the Indonesian seas
Ocean Dynamics, 2011An eddy-resolving Indo-Pacific ocean circulation model was applied to highlight the behavior of eddies throughout the Indonesian seas. The complexity of the topography and coastline at the entrance of the Makassar Strait induce an eddy-type throughflow, instead of a straightforward flow.

Estimation of bottom microplastic flux in the Indonesian seas
Marine Pollution BulletinMarine debris, particularly microplastics, is an important environmental problem for Indonesia, impacting vast coastline and diverse marine ecosystems. However, little is known about the microplastics flux to the seafloor in the Indonesian Seas.

Reactive phosphate in the eastern Indonesian seas
Netherlands Journal of Sea Research, 1988Vertical profiles and horizontal sections of the reactive phosphate concentration in deep-sea basins in eastern Indonesia, based on data obtained during the Snellius-II and Indopac Expedition are given. Below 1000 m depth the concentration ranged from 2.7 to 2.9 mmol·m−3, slightly larger than in the waters flowing in from the Pacific Ocean.

Simulated seasonal circulation in the Indonesian Seas
Journal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, 1993Seasonal circulation in the Indonesian Seas is investigated in detail by use of a high‐resolution oceanic general circulation model forced by the monthly mean climatological wind stress. Although the net barotropic through flow between the Pacific and Indian oceans is not permitted, the model appears to be successful in predicting the observed ...

Internal Tide Generation in the Indonesian Seas
2003Abstract : The long-term goal is to characterize the internal tides in the Indonesian Seas and determine how they may vary seasonally and interannually as the thermocline structure changes. Our primary objective is to provide reliable estimates for the barotropic and baroclinic tides in the Indonesian Seas. We intend to determine: 1) specifically where

Thermocline stratification within the Indonesian Seas
Journal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, 1996An extensive suite of conductivity‐temperature‐depth stations was obtained from the Baruna Jaya I during the southeast monsoon of 1993 and northwest monsoon of 1994, as part of the Indonesian/U.S. Arlindo project. The main objective of these cruises was to determine sources, pathways, and mixing histories of the throughflow water masses for the monsoon

CO2 sink/source characteristics in the tropical Indonesian seas [PDF]
Two distinct CO2 sink/source characteristics are found in the tropical Indonesian seas from the compilation of observed data for the period 1984-2013. The western region persistently emits CO2 to the atmosphere, whereas the eastern region is dynamic and ...
