Indoor localization with correction and validation
2020 19th RoEduNet Conference: Networking in Education and Research (RoEduNet), 2020This paper proposes a hybrid system for indoor localization. It is composed of a core system and a validation subsystem. The core system is range-based which uses a lateration algorithm based on RSSI. This component also has a correction mechanism for the attenuation coefficient (Path Loss of the environment).

Indoor localization with a signal tree
Multimedia Tools and Applications, 2017Indoor localization based on image matching faces the challenges of clustering large amounts of images to build a reference database, costly query when the database is large and indistinctive image features in buildings with unified decoration style. We propose a novel indoor localization algorithm using smartphones where WiFi, orientation and visual ...

Proceedings of the International Conference on Mobile Software Engineering and Systems, 2016
Accurate indoor positioning can transform the retail, travel and transportation, and sports industries. For example, think of getting a mobile coupon for a shirt when you are standing near to it in a clothing store and turn-by-turn indoor navigation to the food booth with the shortest queue in airports and stadiums.

Indoor localization based on LEDs
2011 IEEE International Conference on Control Applications (CCA), 2011LEDs have many advantages compared with the conventional lamps. Therefore LEDs are expected to be the next generation of lamps that will be widely installed to replace conventional lamps. Due to their rapid response times, LED's can be modulated at very high-speeds, which allows the possibility of simultaneously providing communication while ...

Fast localization in indoor environments
2009 IEEE Symposium on Computational Intelligence for Security and Defense Applications, 2009In this paper, we propose an algorithm for fast indoor localization. The algorithm does not require any sensors to be installed; instead, localization is determined using image matching. Our system studies (or learns) the indoor environment through detecting image junctions using the so-called JUDOCA detector.

Drone Indoor Self-Localization
Proceedings of the First Workshop on Micro Aerial Vehicle Networks, Systems, and Applications for Civilian Use, 2015Drones are becoming more and more popular for their possible use in different scenarios, not only outdoor, but even indoor. In this context, indoor self-localization may become crucial and, clearly, GPS is not an option. In this poster we discuss a possible strategy for drone indoor self-localization based on printed markers, drone cameras and software

Indoor localization with occlusion removal
2017 IEEE 16th International Conference on Cognitive Informatics & Cognitive Computing (ICCI*CC), 2017A novel 3D image-based indoor localization system integrated with an obstacle removal component is proposed. In contrast with existing state-of-the-art localization techniques focusing on static outdoor or indoor environments, the adverse effects generated by moving obstacles, which are very common in busy indoor spaces, is considered in our work.

Lightweight Indoor Localization System
2015 8th IFIP Wireless and Mobile Networking Conference (WMNC), 2015Indoor localization is an important topic for context aware applications. In particular, many applications for wireless devices can benefit from knowing the location of a user. Despite the huge effort from the research community to solve the localization problem, there is no widely accepted solution for localization in an indoor environment.

Indoor localization for mobile devices
Proceedings of the 11th IEEE International Conference on Networking, Sensing and Control, 2014This paper proposes an indoor localization system for mobile devices in urban high-rise environments. The proposed system classifies received signal strength measured from existing Wi-Fi access points, and predicts location of mobile devices based on the measured Wi-Fi signal strength and building floor plan.
