Sensory landmarks for indoor localization

2016 Fourth International Conference on Ubiquitous Positioning, Indoor Navigation and Location Based Services (UPINLBS), 2016
Indoor localization is important for a variety of applications such as emergency response, shopping guide, and location-based services. Localization based on smartphone inertial sensors is one of the most widely-used indoor localization techniques since it can provide continuous and real-time locations without requiring additional infrastructure ...

Virtual testbed for indoor localization

International Conference on Indoor Positioning and Indoor Navigation, 2013
We present a novel, easy to use virtual testbed for the evaluation of localization algorithms. Our testbed enables researchers to easily run tests on a huge body of real world range-based indoor localization data. The data consists of a dense grid of reference points belonging to one or multiple maps.

Channel learning in indoor localization

2016 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2016
This work addresses the fundamental issue of online channel learning in indoor localization systems. We describe a novel algorithm for unsupervised channel learning where the path loss exponent in the Non-Line-Of-Sight (NLOS) region is adapted online while positioning.

Experimental evaluation of indoor localization algorithms

2014 International Conference on Indoor Positioning and Indoor Navigation (IPIN), 2014
In Radio Frequency (RF)-based indoor localization scenarios, localization algorithms are needed to alleviate the impact of non-line-of-sight and multipath effects on the measurements and thereby estimate the true position precisely. Several resilient lateration algorithms have been proposed in the last couple of years which claim to minimize these ...

Cooperative and heterogeneous indoor localization experiments

2013 IEEE International Conference on Communications Workshops (ICC), 2013
In this paper we present the results of real-life localization experiments performed in an unprecedented cooperative and heterogeneous wireless context. These measurements are based on ZigBee and orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) devices, respectively endowed with receivedsignal strength indicator (RSSI) and round trip delay (RTD ...

mmWaves RSSI indoor network localization

2014 IEEE International Conference on Communications Workshops (ICC), 2014
Indoor positioning gained great interest in recent years. Several performance evaluations are available for consolidated systems, especially for ultra-wideband radios. Given the current success of mmWaves networks, in this paper, we investigate the performance of RSSI localization systems operating at mmWaves.

Fast-converging indoor mapping for wireless indoor localization

2014 IEEE International Conference on Pervasive Computing and Communication Workshops (PERCOM WORKSHOPS), 2014
The construction of indoor floor plans for wireless localization with minimal deployment effort and with low cost is relevant in many ambient intelligence and mobile computing applications. Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) is a well-known technique for solving the problem of localization of an object in an unknown environment while ...

Information fusion for indoor localization.

2009
This paper describes a fusion approach to the problem of indoor localization of a pedestrian user, in which PNS measurements, cartographic constraints and ranging or proximity beacon measurements are combined in a particle filter approximation of the Bayesian filter.
