Collision‐Resilient Winged Drones Enabled by Tensegrity Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Based on structures of birds such as the woodpeck, this article presents the collision‐resilient aerial robot, SWIFT. SWIFT leverages tensegrity structures in the fuselage and wings which allow it to undergo large deformations in a crash, without sustaining damage. Experiments show that SWIFT can reduce impact forces by 70% over conventional structures.

Intelligent Sky Guardians (InSkyGuard): An Aerial Robotic Swarm for Autonomous Detection and Entrapment of Rogue Multirotors

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Intelligent Sky Guardians (InSkyGuard) is introduced as a four‐drone swarm that autonomously detects, tracks, and safely captures rogue drones using a coordinated net system. Computer vision and leader–follower control architecture enable synchronized enclosure, while integrated failsafes enhance system reliability. Validated through closed‐environment

Bending‐Stable Pressure Sensor Based on Natural Wood Nanofibers for Ultra‐Low Detection Limit

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A wood nanofiber‐based flexible pressure sensor with intrinsic bending‐stable performance is developed through a porous electrospun architecture and interdigital electrode design. The device exhibits an ultra‐low detection limit and stable operation under deformation for physiological monitoring and spatial sensing, providing a sustainable strategy for

Strategies to Reduce Indoor Tanning [PDF]

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Preventive Medicine, 2013
Exposure to ultraviolet radiation from indoor tanning device use is associated with an increased risk of skin cancer, including risk of malignant melanoma, and is an urgent public health problem. By reducing indoor tanning, future cases of skin cancer could be prevented, along with the associated morbidity, mortality, and healthcare costs. On August 20,
