Confinement-induced demixing and crystallization
We simulate a strongly size-disperse hard-sphere fluid confined between two parallel hard walls. We find that confinement induces crystallization into n-layered hexagonal lattices and a novel honeycomb-shaped structure, facilitated by fractionation.

Liquid Crystal‐Induced Myoblast Alignment [PDF]
Abstract The ability to control cell alignment represents a fundamental requirement toward the production of tissue in vitro but also to create biohybrid materials presenting the functional properties of human organs. However, cell cultures on standard commercial supports do not provide a selective control on the cell organization ...

Study on induced crystallization softening coal-to-methanol gasification scrubber wastewater
The induced crystallization method was employed to soften coal-to-methanol gasification scrubber wastewater. This study investigated the effects of different seed crystals (garnet, calcite, quartz sand), their dosages (2.5, 4.0, 5.0, 6.0, 7.5 g/L), pH ...

Engineering peptides into antibodies—opportunities and strategies for therapeutic innovation
Peptides and antibodies occupy complementary therapeutic niches. Peptides recognize difficult targets in a compact format, while antibodies add specificity, long half‐life, and effector functions. This review examines strategies that merge both modalities—peptide grafting into loops, terminal and Fc fusions, and bioconjugation—highlighting how ...

Prolonging rubber fatigue life using hysteresis of strain-induced crystallization of natural rubber
Recently, soft robots have attracted considerable attention; however, they often undergo large deformations. Thus, their lifespans are critical issues. Therefore, this study proposes a novel method for extending the lives of rubber materials.

Shear-induced crystallization of an amorphous system [PDF]
The influence of a stationary shear flow on the crystallization in a glassy system is studied by means of molecular dynamics simulations and subsequent cluster analysis. The results reveal two opposite effects of the shear flow on the processes of topological ordering in the system.

Structural and biochemical analysis of a B12 superbinder
BtuG proteins are vitamin B12 scavengers in Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron, a dominant human gut bacterium. We present crystal structures of three BtuG homologs bound to cobalamin and its precursor cobinamide, revealing picomolar binding affinities, among the highest known for any natural protein.
