BackgroundNontraumatic osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) can be corticosteroid-induced, alcohol-induced, and idiopathic ONFH (IONFH). Although corticosteroid- and alcohol-induced ONFH has been investigated extensively regarding its relationship ...

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

Colour and texture associations in voice-induced synaesthesia
Voice-induced synaesthesia, a form of synaesthesia in which synaesthetic perceptions are induced by the sounds of people’s voices, appears to be relatively rare and has not been systematically studied.

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Matched slow pulses using double electromagnetically induced transparency [PDF]
3 pages, 5 figures. To be published Optics Letters Version 2: Expanded on phase-locking of lasers at different frequencies. Addressed the potential for optical switching. Changed figure 2 to include frequencies. Removed extraneous states. Added intuitive explanation of the system's dynamics. Added references [5] and [10]

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Phase-matched electron–photon interactions enabled by 3D-printed helical waveguides
The Smith–Purcell effect enables electromagnetic radiation across arbitrary spectral ranges by phase-matching the diffraction orders of an optical grating with the near-field of a moving electron.
