Shear induced polarization: collisional contributions
It has been realized that thermal shear plays a similar role as thermal vorticity in polarizing spin of particles in heavy ion collisions. We point out that shear has a funda- mental difference that it leads to particle redistribution in the medium.

Optical vortex beams carry optical orbital angular momentum (OAM) and can induce an orbital motion of trapped particles in optical trapping. We show that the state of polarization (SOP) of vortex beams will affect the details of this optically induced ...

Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Detection of second-order nonlinear optical magnetization by mapping normalized Stokes parameters [PDF]
A measurable magnetic (nonlocal) contribution to the second harmonic generation (SHG) of nonmagnetic materials is an intriguing issue related to chiral materials, such as biomolecules.

Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

Cutaneous Melanoma Drives Metabolic Changes in the Aged Bone Marrow Immune Microenvironment
Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, increasingly affects older adults. Our study reveals that melanoma induces changes in iron and lipid levels in the bone marrow, impacting immune cell populations and increasing susceptibility to ferroptosis.

Coherent polarization shift keying modulated free space optical links over a Gamma-Gamma turbulence channel [PDF]
Problem statement: The optical signal propagating through the Free Space Optical (FSO) channel suffers from irradiance and phase fluctuations caused by the atmospheric turbulence, which results in Bit Error Rate (BER) performance degradation ...
