Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Constructing quotient inductive-inductive types [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the ACM on Programming Languages, 2019
Quotient inductive-inductive types (QIITs) generalise inductive types in two ways: a QIIT can have more than one sort and the later sorts can be indexed over the previous ones. In addition, equality constructors are also allowed. We work in a setting with uniqueness of identity proofs, hence we use the term QIIT instead of higher inductive-inductive ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Mathematical induction, transfinite induction, and induction over the continuum

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematics Education, 2023
This article examines three types of induction methods in mathematics: mathematical induction, transfinite induction, and induction over the continuum. If a statement holds true for all natural numbers, it is proven using mathematical induction. If a statement holds true for all ordinal numbers, it is proven using transfinite induction. Since induction

Improved Formulae for the Inductance of Straight Wires

open access: yesAdvanced Electromagnetics, 2014
The best analytical formulae for the self-inductance of rectangular coils of circular cross section available in the literature were derived from formulae for the partial inductance of straight wires, which, in turn, are based on the well-known formula ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Coiled supracrystalline nanotubes as solenoids for nanoelectronics

open access: yesФизика волновых процессов и радиотехнические системы, 2015
The methods of conductive supracrystalline nanotubes spiralization are shown. Such coiled nanotubes can be used as the solenoids in nanoelectronic components of radio-technical systems.

Calculation of the Inductance and Resistance Matrices of Medium-Frequency Transformers

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of Power Electronics
Due to the ever-increasing switching speeds of wide band gap (WBG) devices, the high-frequency behavior of magnetic components, such as medium-frequency transformers, is becoming increasingly significant. To describe this complex high-frequency behavior,
