Prediction of Plate Bending by High-Frequency Induction Heating
Journal of Ship Production, 2002In this study, we developed an analysis method of plate forming by induction heating and verified the effectiveness of the present method through a series of experiments. The phenomena of induction heating is a 3-D transient problem coupled with electromagnetic, heat transfer, and elastoplastic large-deformation analyses.

The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 2015
The constitutive equation of P11 alloy was built to describe the hardening curve obtained from the compression tests. Then, the local-induction-heating bending process of bend pipe with straight section was simulated by using the finite element method. The forming experiments were also performed based on the simulation results.

Guidance for Field Segmentation and Welding of Induction Bends and Elbows
Volume 3: Materials and Joining, 2012The use of cold field bends is not practical for some pipeline construction applications, particularly for large diameter pipelines built with restricted work space. For many reasons, the use of segmented induction bends and long-radius elbows becomes a necessary part of normal construction practice.

Selection of sheet metal bending machines by the PRISM-inductive learning method
Journal of Intelligent Manufacturing, 1996In this paper, a selection system of sheet metal bending machines is established. Machine specifications such as pressure capacity and bending length have to be considered in the selection in order to reach the best choice according to the need of the decision maker.

Induction of DNA bending by bifunctional intercalating agents of the 7H-pyridocarbazole family
Biophysical Chemistry, 1991The structures and binding energetics of selected complexes formed between the deoxynucleotides d(CpGpGpCpG).d(CpGpCpCpG), d(CpGpApTpCpG)2, d(GpCpGpCpCpG).d(CpGpGpCpGpC), and d(CpGpCpCpCpG)2 with the DNA bifunctional intercalating agent ditercalinium and three of its rigid linking chain derivatives have been investigated theoretically by means of a ...

DNA structural changes such as bending play an important role in various biological reactions. Not only protein binding to its specific DNA sequence but also DNA bending induced by the protein is indispensable for unique gene expression. Therefore, an artificial protein that induces a DNA conformational change is interesting as a transcriptional ...

Cold bending, warm bending (bending with local heating) and induction bending are three manufacturing processes widely used to produce pipe bends. The cold and warm bending processes have been used for the fabrication of carbon steel feeder bends for CANDU® reactors, and the induction bending process was considered for the fabrication of stainless ...

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part E: Journal of Process Mechanical Engineering, 2008
This paper briefly describes induction bending and highlights some of the challenges associated with this technique in the production of tight bends in thick-walled pipe. The authors then go on to describe how data obtained from production runs and specifically commissioned trial bends were used to examine the factors believed to influence the ...

Cracking Analysis of Induction Heat Bend Pipe of X70 Steel
Advanced Materials Research, 2012Experimental methods, such as OM, SEM and X-EDS, were used to study the transverse cracks appeared on the external arc of tensile region during pipe bending. The pipe line steel consists of acicular ferrite (AF) and granular bainite (GB) with good mechanical properties.

Deformation and Ductile Cracking Behavior of X80 Grade Induction Bends
4th International Pipeline Conference, Parts A and B, 2002Permanent ground movement is expected in seismic areas and in permafrost regions, and pipelines buried in those areas need to be designed to have sufficient deformability. Especially, bends need to have superior deformability, because it was pointed out in the recent earthquake event that deformation tends to concentrate in the connection region of ...
