Development of X80 Grade Induction Bend Pipe

21st International Conference on Offshore Mechanics and Arctic Engineering, Volume 3, 2002
API X80 grade induction bend pipe was developed using longitudinally submerged arc welded pipe as a mother pipe and applying subsequent quenching after induction heating and tempering in the full length portion. As a preliminary study for optimizing manufacturing process, the effect of heating process in induction bending had been investigated, and ...

Deformation Capacity of Induction Bends

Volume 4: Terry Jones Pipeline Technology; Ocean Space Utilization; CFD and VIV Symposium, 2006
In the last two decades, reliability methods have been extensively used to calibrate rationally-based Load and Resistance Factored Design (LRFD) equations for the design of offshore and onshore pipelines. Several experimental and theoretical studies have been carried out with the aim to assess the strength and deformation capacity of induction bends ...

Optimization of Pipe Induction Bending Process Parameters

ASME 2017 India Oil and Gas Pipeline Conference, 2017
Hot pushed induction heating is a bending process used to bend pipes having a small bending radius with a large diameter. This is a complex process since it involves mechanical process of bending and thermal process of localized induction heating. This paper deals with the optimization of induction bending process parameters such as bending speed ...

Theory of pipe-bending to a small bend radius using induction heating

Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 1990
Abstract A theory for the bending of inductively heated pipes to a small bend radius is presented. Stress-and strain-states under various loading conditions and for different bend radii are calculated and simulated numerically by the 3-D thermal elasto-plastic and the rigid-viscoplastic finite-element methods.

Bending-comb capacitor with a small parasitic inductance

2002 Symposium on VLSI Circuits. Digest of Technical Papers (Cat. No.02CH37302), 2003
A new metal-metal capacitor with a small parasitic inductance, named a bending-comb capacitor (BCC), is proposed based on a standard digital CMOS technology. The BCC is applicable to high frequency circuits due to its high self-resonance frequency. An analytical evaluation of the capacitance from the geometry size is also presented.

Design Parameter Reliability Analysis of Induction Bends

Volume 6A: Pipeline and Riser Technology, 2014
Induction pipe bends are essential multi-functional components in offshore applications performing not only as fluid conductors but also as structural members providing flexibility to the entire pipeline. The deforming mechanism of bends minimizes the effects of pipe walking, length changes due to thermal expansion/contraction, etc. However, the extent

Experimental Investigation of Spiral Seam Induction Bends

2010 8th International Pipeline Conference, Volume 2, 2010
The three kinds of dimensions that is Φ325mm×8mm, Φ426mm×8mm and Φ711mm×10.3mm X52 spiral seam induction bends were manufactured via the induction bending process. Based on that, the property and structure of spiral seam induction bends were investigated.

Effect of Hot Induction Bending on Microstructure, Precipitate Characteristics, and Mechanical Properties in Thick-Walled X90 Bend

Journal of Materials Engineering and Performance, 2021
The microstructure and precipitate characteristic in the thick-walled X90 hot bend related to mechanical properties were investigated in this paper. Optical microscopy (OM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were used to study the microstructure characteristic and precipitation behavior.

Bending and Tempering Process of L415M Hot Induction Bend Used in Low Temperatures Areas

Materials Science Forum, 2016
Test bends of L415M hot induction bend of 508 mm OD×14.3 mm WT used in –45°C areas were conducted. The bending and tempering process parameters were designed, the influences of bending and tempering process parameters on impact toughness at –45°C and microstructure of tangent weld and bend weld were investigated.

Rupture prediction for induction bends under opening mode bending with emphasis on strain localization

International Journal of Pressure Vessels and Piping, 2015
Abstract This study focuses on the opening mode of induction bends; this mode represents the deformation outside a bend. Bending experiments on induction bends are shown and the manner of failure of these bends was investigated. Ruptures occur at the intrados of the bends, which undergo tensile stress, and accompany the local reduction of wall ...
