Convex projective structures on Gromov--Thurston manifolds
We consider Gromov-Thurston examples of negatively curved n-manifolds which do not admit metrics of constant sectional curvature. We show that for each n some of the Gromov-Thurston manifolds admit strictly convex real-projective structures.Comment: 28 ...

Effect of Oxygen Content on Surface and Subsurface Integrity During Turning of Ti–6Al–4V
This study examines how oxygen content in the ambient atmosphere affects the surface and subsurface properties of Ti–6Al–4V during turning. Results show that oxygen does not influence surface roughness. However, machining in an extremely high vacuum‐adequate atmosphere increases surface hardness by up to 7.8% and induces compressive residual stresses ...

An asymptotically exact theory of functionally graded piezoelectric shells
An asymptotically exact two-dimensional theory of functionally graded piezoelectric shells is derived by the variational-asymptotic method. The error estimation of the constructed theory is given in the energetic norm.

Disordered (Fe50Co50)1−xPtx thin films exhibit a pronounced anomalous Nernst effect (ANE) with a strong composition dependence on both rigid and flexible substrates. The transverse thermoelectric response peaks near 22.5 at.% Pt, accompanied by enhanced αxy/σxy scaling, thermal transport, and ANE sensitivity.

The presented study focuses on the fracture behaviour of carbon‐bonded magnesia MgO–C refractories, where environmentally friendly fructose, collagen and lignin serve as temporary binding agents. The partial substitution of the source material with recycled MgO–C reduces the fracture resistance, which can be counteracted by the additional introduction ...

Study on L-Bending Springback of 45 Steel Leather Cutting Tool Coupled with Local Induction Heating
Springback error is a major obstacle in L-bending sheets via cold working. Although thermal processing can effectively reduce the springback phenomenon, it is challenging to heat the sheet globally due to the influence of working conditions.

Experimental Spinal Fusion With Recombinant Human Bone Morphogenetic Protein-2 Without Decortication of Osseous Elements [PDF]
Study Design. L4-L5 intertransverse process fusions were produced with 58 μg, 230 μg, or 920 μg of recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 in 20 dogs. Eleven had traditional decortication of posterior elements before insertion of the implant. Nine

Four‐point bending tests are conducted in an argon atmosphere on commercial MgO‐C brick grades with and without MgO‐C recyclate from room temperature up to 1300 °C. No detrimental effect of the MgO‐C recyclates on bending strength is found. Instead, a decisive influence of the total carbon content is observed, with lower total carbon contents ...

Operational Characteristics of Tube Bends Made Using Local Induction Heating of the L360NE (X52) Steel [PDF]
The paper presents the evaluation of utility properties of a tube bend produced by bending process using local induction heating technique. Optimal process parameters were defined on the basis of numerical simulations.
