Operating Properties of the Inductive Current Transformer and Evaluation of Requirements for Its Compliance with the IEC 61869-1 WB2 Class Extension for Frequency up to 20 kHz

open access: yesEnergies
Nanocrystalline material provides an opportunity to improve the wideband performance of inductive current transformers and enables the possibility of ensuring their transformation accuracy for distorted and sinusoidal current from 50 Hz up to 20 kHz ...

Application of the inductive high current testing transformer for supplying of the measuring circuit with distorted current

open access: yesIET Electric Power Applications, 2019
The increasing number of non‐linear loads and renewable energy sources causes a decrease in the power quality in the power networks. Therefore, tests of current transformers should be performed in similar conditions. This requires generation by a high current testing transformer of distorted currents that rms values are from a few hundred to several ...

Estimation of the inductive current transformer derating for operation with distorted currents

open access: yesBulletin of the Polish Academy of Sciences Technical Sciences, 2014
Abstract The aim of the paper is to present a new method for estimation of the CT (Current Transformer) rated primary current and / or load of the secondary winding derating levels for transformation of distorted current in relation to the rated values fixed for transformation of sinusoidal current.

Amplification of S-1 Spheromak current by an inductive current transformer [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
We attempt to predict the consequences of adding an inductive current transformer (OH Transformer) to the present S-1 Spheromak experiment. Axisymmetric modeling with only classical dissipation shows an increase of toroidal current and a shrinking and hollowing of the current channel, conserving toroidal flux.

Nonlinearity of the magnetization characteristic of the magnetic core in calculation of current error and phase displacement values of inductive CTs

open access: yesScientific Reports
This paper explores the implications of employing a load exhibiting a power factor of 1 to test the transformation accuracy of an inductive current transformer with an apparent power below 5 VA. It offers an explanation of the change in current error and

Thermal Aspect in Operation of Inductive Current Transformers and Transducers

open access: yesEnergies
An increase in the temperature of the magnetic core causes narrowing of its hysteresis loop and reduction in the saturation magnetic flux density. Therefore, at the same operating point on the magnetization characteristic, the nonlinear effect may become

A Novel Differential High-Frequency Current Transformer Sensor for Series Arc Fault Detection

open access: yesSensors, 2019
Fault arc detection is an important technology to ensure the safe operation of electrical equipment and prevent electrical fires. The high-frequency noise of the arc current is one of the typical arc characteristics of almost all loads.
