Inductive instrument transformers are widely-used to measure currents in the power grid. Harmonics currents increase due to the proliferation of nonlinear equipment in the power grid. At higher frequencies, eddy currents inside the core increase, causing a change of the electrical parameters of the current instrument transformer (CT).

Effect of temperature on the accuracy of inductive current transformers
2018 IEEE International Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference (I2MTC), 2018The paper deals with the evaluation of the accuracy variation of inductive current transformers vs. ambient temperature. There is a lack of information regarding if and how the accuracy of inductive current transformers changes with respect to temperature variations. To this purpose, in this paper a proper setup is presented and used for evaluating the

Abstract The aim of the paper is to present results explaining the phenomena of the inductive current transformers (CTs) metrological properties deterioration for the transformation of the distorted currents. In the article the influence of the conductive disturbances on their accuracy of transformation of the distorted signal is described.

Overvoltages caused by the interruption of small inductive transformer currents
IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 1988The interruption of small inductive currents can cause high overvoltages, which may overstress the dielectric strength of the equipment. Based on detailed dynamic models for the circuit breaker and the transformer, a variety of parameters which influence these overvoltages is systematically investigated by digital simulation.
