Scaling down an inductive proximity sensor

Sensors and Actuators A: Physical, 1996
Abstract We analyse the problem of scaling down an inductive proximity sensor made of superposed multiple-turn flat coils. We scale down linearly all the geometrical dimensions. Then the nominal inductance is scaled down proportionally to the scale factor. The coupling factor of the superposed coils remains constant.

The design of a proximity inductive sensor

Measurement Science and Technology, 1998
In this paper we discuss the advantages of flat coil inductive proximity sensors. The coil copper helix may be realized by application of a photoengraving technique to two side-printed boards by a very cheap process. The low thickness allows one to get the coil closer to the target. This fact allows one to attain a higher sensitivity.

Coin recognition using an inductive proximity sensor microsystem

Proceedings of International Solid State Sensors and Actuators Conference (Transducers '97), 2002
We have realized metallic profile imagery of coins using a miniaturized inductive proximity sensor. The sensor is a microsystem composed of a 1 mm diameter coil and a new ASIC interface based on the principle of a differential relaxation oscillator. This imagery is appropriate for coin pattern recognition.

A signal conditioner IC for inductive proximity sensors

2011 9th IEEE International Conference on ASIC, 2011
In this paper, a monolithic signal conditioner for inductive proximity sensors (IPSs) is presented. It's based on the principle that change in inductance current slew rate at a constant voltage is related to inductance. Through detection of current slew rate slope di/dt, inductance can be detected.

Ultra-Low Power Human Proximity Sensor Using Electrostatic Induction

IEEE Sensors Journal, 2020
This paper presents an ultra-low power human proximity sensor using electrostatic induction. The analytical model of electrostatic induction current generated by human motion is derived and verified with measurement results. Based on the analytical model, we propose an ultra-low power integrated circuit to detect human motion using electrostatic ...

The Disturbance of Inductive Proximity Sensor for Mobile Robot

Advanced Materials Research, 2014
Non-contactingproximity sensors are widely promoted for position detection through determiningthe distance between sensor and object. Besides, the usage of non-contactinginductive proximity sensors for object detections such as finding non-ferrousand ferrous metal tape is the popular technique in mobile robots.

Inductive Proximity Sensor with Novel Structure of Ferrite Core

Materials Science Forum, 2010
Inductive proximity sensors (proximity sensors) are noncontact sensing devices used to detect the approach of a target by an increase in coil impedance due to eddy current loss. Extending the operating distance of these sensors is demanded. The flux of a conventional proximity sensor has difficulty in reaching the target because of the presence of the ...

A low-cost inductive proximity sensor for industrial applications

Sensors and Actuators A: Physical, 2004
In this paper,we present an inductive proximity sensor with fully integrated electronics. The sensor with the compact hybrid configuration is composed of a sensing flat coil and an integrated electronic interface. We focused during the development on the temperature stability and robustness of the sensor by keeping its low-fabrication cost.

New inductive proximity sensor platform for precise localization of small colorectal tumors

Materials Science and Engineering: C, 2020
Location of small gastric or colorectal tumors during a laparoscopic procedure is often imprecise and can be misleading. There is a real need for a compatible and straightforward tool that can be used intraoperatively to help the surgeon in this regard.

Inductive proximity sensors network in intelligent clothes

2017 E-Health and Bioengineering Conference (EHB), 2017
We propose a new method for assessing of gait parameters using inductive sensors that are embedded in clothes. An experimental model was developed in order to prove the method positioning two planar inductive sensors near the knee. The acquired signals from sensors are clearly and could be used for gait analyses without the need of filtering.
