Learning Production Process Heterogeneity Across Industries: Implications of Deep Learning for Corporate M&A Decisions [PDF]
Using deep learning techniques, we introduce a novel measure for production process heterogeneity across industries. For each pair of industries during 1990-2021, we estimate the functional distance between two industries' production processes via deep neural network. Our estimates uncover the underlying factors and weights reflected in the multi-stage

Adaptive ERK reactivation hinders FLT3 tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) treatment in FLT3/ITD acute myeloid leukemia. Here, we report that FLT3 TKI treatment rapidly induces AXL expression and upregulation that is temporally associated with the adaptive ERK reactivation.

A Survey Study to Understand Industry Vision for Virtual and Augmented Reality Applications in Design and Construction [PDF]
With advances in Building Information Modeling (BIM), Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) technologies have many potential applications in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry. However, the AEC industry, relative to other industries, has been slow in adopting AR/VR technologies, partly due to lack of feasibility ...

Horizontal and Vertical Differentiation: Approaching Endogenous Measurement in Intra-industry Trade [PDF]
Studying intra-industry trade involves theoretical explanations and empirical methods to measure the phenomenon. Indicators have been developed to measure the intensity of intra-industry trade, leading to theoretical models explaining its determinants. It is essential to distinguish between horizontal and vertical differentiation in empirical analyses.

Can ROS be used securely in industry? Red teaming ROS-Industrial [PDF]
With its growing use in industry, ROS is rapidly becoming a standard in robotics. While developments in ROS 2 show promise, the slow adoption cycles in industry will push widespread ROS 2 industrial adoption years from now. ROS will prevail in the meantime which raises the question: can ROS be used securely for industrial use cases even though its ...

Who should I Collaborate with? A Comparative Study of Academia and Industry Research Collaboration in NLP [PDF]
The goal of our research was to investigate the effects of collaboration between academia and industry on Natural Language Processing (NLP). To do this, we created a pipeline to extract affiliations and citations from NLP papers and divided them into three categories: academia, industry, and hybrid (collaborations between academia and industry).

The Industrial Hygiene Program in Industry [PDF]
INDUSTRIAL hygiene programs supported by industry are a relatively recent development and although they may vary slightly in their scope, the general pattern is the same and their purpose is clear. Industries expect their industrial hygiene departments to tell them exactly what new and old processes and operations or proposed changes they need be ...
