Measuring Inequality Using Geospatial Data [PDF]
Abstract The main challenge in studying inequality is limited data availability, which is particularly problematic in developing countries. This study constructs a measure of light-based geospatial income inequality (LGII) for 234 countries/territories from 1992 to 2013 using satellite data on night-lights and gridded population data ...

Measuring global health inequity [PDF]

In this paper, we consider the Zenga index, one of the most recent inequality indices. We keep the finite-valued original form and address the asymptotic theory. The asymptotic normality is established through a multinomial representation. The Influence

Transfer Sensitive Inequality Measures [PDF]
Transfer sensitivity has been seen as a means of strengthening the Pigou- Dalton ``principle of transfers'', by ensuring that more weight in the inequality assessment is attached to transfers taking place lower down in the distribution. This paper examines the concept of transfer sensitivity in detail and proposes a new definition that can be usefully ...

A Q‐Learning Algorithm to Solve the Two‐Player Zero‐Sum Game Problem for Nonlinear Systems
A Q‐learning algorithm to solve the two‐player zero‐sum game problem for nonlinear systems. ABSTRACT This paper deals with the two‐player zero‐sum game problem, which is a bounded L2$$ {L}_2 $$‐gain robust control problem. Finding an analytical solution to the complex Hamilton‐Jacobi‐Issacs (HJI) equation is a challenging task.

Some Notes on the Gini Index and New Inequality Measures: The nth Gini Index
A new family of inequality indices based on the deviation between the expected maximum and the expected minimum of random samples, called the nth Gini index is presented. These indices generalize the Gini index.

Current Tracking Adaptive Control of Brushless DC Motors
In this paper, the current tracking for Brushless Direct Current motors is approached considering uncertainty in the parameters of the motor's model. An adaptive control scheme to compensate electrical parameters uncertainty is proposed without requiring any knowledge of the mechanical parameters.
