Optical-inertial tracking with active markers and changing visibility

2012 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems, 2012
This paper presents an optical-inertial tracking algorithm with explicit and assured optical marker identification. Active optical markers are sequentially or simultaneously triggered to achieve a maximum in quantity and quality of measurements available for tracking. Markers that appear in a camera image are identified by individual activation and are

Coupled laser inertial navigation system for pedestrian tracking

2011 8th Workshop on Positioning, Navigation and Communication, 2011
This paper presents a method for indoor pedestrian tracking using inertial sensing and a laser scanner (Light Detection and Ranging LIDAR). The zero velocity updating technique[2], which is used to enhance the performances of an inertial sensing sensor mounted on the foot, cannot observe heading, resulting in an horizontal position drift.

Coupled sonar inertial navigation system for pedestrian tracking

2010 13th International Conference on Information Fusion, 2010
This paper presents a novel method for indoor pedestrian tracking using inertial sensing and sonar sensors. The zero velocity updating technique, which is used to enhance the performances of inertial sensing, cannot observe heading, resulting in a horizontal position drift. Sonar sensors are used as complementary technique to correct heading.

Inertial measurement underwater tracking system

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1982
An inertial measurement underwater tracking system which determines range sition onboard an underwater vehicle using inertial navigation techniques. The system uses acoustic telemetry to relay the range position from the vehicle to an operations site. The position data is also recorded onboard the vehicle for post-run analysis.

Hybrid inertial and vision tracking for augmented reality registration

Proceedings IEEE Virtual Reality (Cat. No. 99CB36316), 2003
The biggest single obstacle to building effective augmented reality (AR) systems is the lack of accurate wide-area sensors for trackers that report the locations and orientations of objects in an environment. Active (sensor-emitter) tracking technologies require powered-device installation.

Upper limb joint angle tracking with inertial sensors

2011 Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2011
Wearable inertial systems have recently been used to track human movement in and outside of the laboratory. Continuous monitoring of human movement can provide valuable information relevant to individual's level of physical activity and functional ability.

Object-Based Visual-Inertial Tracking for Additive Fabrication

IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters, 2018
In this letter, a system is presented to track the motion of a sensor-head relative to multiple objects of known geometry. Measurements from a monocular camera and an inertial measurement unit are probabilistically fused in a moving horizon estimator to obtain high-accuracy estimates.

Vision-inertial system calibration for tracking in augmented reality.

2005
High accuracy registration between real and virtual environments is crucial in Augmented Reality (AR) systems. However, when a vision/inertial hybrid tracker is used, such accuracy depends mostly on the calibration procedure to determine transformations between the sensors frames.
