A generic approach to inertial tracking of arbitrary kinematic chains
Proceedings of the 8th International Conference on Body Area Networks, 2013Inertial tracking is still an area of active research, especially in the context of real-time human motion capture. Existing systems either propose loosely coupled tracking approaches, taking the resulting drawbacks into account, or they propose tightly coupled solutions limited to a fixed chain with few segments, but without any flexibility in ...

Inertial measurement underwater tracking system
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1982An inertial measurement underwater tracking system which determines range sition onboard an underwater vehicle using inertial navigation techniques. The system uses acoustic telemetry to relay the range position from the vehicle to an operations site. The position data is also recorded onboard the vehicle for post-run analysis.

Tracking Systems and the Value of Inertial Technology
1999This paper intents to add to the literature on 3D position and orientation tracking systems by describing TNO's experience with the InterSense tracking system that uses a combination of inertial and ultra-sound technology. From the results of a performance evaluation study and our practical experience with this system in military applications, the ...
