Bacterial infiltration in structural heart valve disease

The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, 2020
The pathology of structural valvular heart disease (sVHD) ranges from basic diseases of rheumatologic origin to chronic degenerative remodeling processes after acute bacterial infections. Molecular genetic methods allow detection of the complete microbial spectrum in heart valve tissues independent of microbiological cultivation.

Ablation of Ventricular Tachycardia in Congenital and Infiltrative Heart Disease

Cardiac Electrophysiology Clinics, 2017
Radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA) is an important treatment modality to prevent ventricular tachycardia (VT) recurrence in patients with repaired congenital heart disease. Identification and ablation of anatomic isthmuses has improved acute ablation outcome with excellent VT-free survival in those with preserved biventricular function. Reports on

Echocardiographic observations in patients with systemic infiltrative disease involving the heart

The American Journal of Cardiology, 1977
Echocardiography was used to evaluate the heart in 19 patients with one of various systemic diseases known to be associated with infiltrative cardiomyopathy. Four patients had systemic amyloidosis, 10 had idiopathic hypereosinophilia and 5 had iron overload caused by multiple blood transfusions.

Microfibrillar cardiomyopathy: An infiltrative heart disease resembling but distinct from cardiac amyloidosis

Cardiovascular Pathology, 1992
Microfibrils-small, ubiquitous components of the extracellular matrix in many tissues-generally have not been recognized as causing infiltrative heart disease, except in a group of cardiac transplant patients treated with cyclosporin. Microfibrils are often associated with elastic tissue and contain the glycoprotein fibrillin, the P component of ...

Captopril-Induced Pulmonary Infiltrates with Eosinophilia in an Infant with Congenital Heart Disease

Pediatric Cardiology, 2005
We report a case of an infant with complex congenital heart disease who was placed on captopril for afterload reduction following cardiac surgery and subsequently developed pulmonary infiltrates with eosinophilia. The patient was readmitted with symptoms of rhinorrhea, poor feeding, and decreased activity level.
