CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Witten index of BMN matrix quantum mechanics

open access: yesSciPost Physics
We compute the Witten index of the Berenstein-Maldacena-Nastase matrix quantum mechanics, which counts the number of ground states as well as the difference between the numbers of bosonic and fermionic BPS states with nonzero angular momenta.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Subgroups of finite index in an additive group of a ring

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2001
If K is an infinite field and G⫅K is a subgroup of finite index in an additive group, then K∗=G∗G∗−1 where G∗ denotes the set of all invertible elements in G and G∗−1 denotes all inverses of elements of G∗.

Subgroups of infinite index in the modular group [PDF]

open access: yesGlasgow Mathematical Journal, 1978
The modular group Г is the group of integral bilinear transformations of the extended complex plane which preserve the upper half-plane. It has the presentation 〈x, y:x2 = y3 = 1〉, and the generators can be chosen so that u = xy maps z to z + 1.

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

Optimisation of a Third Order System

open access: yesMeasurement + Control, 1971
A general algebraic method of optimising a third order system is presented. The method consists of extending Pontryagin's Maximum Principle to the infinite interval case and reducing the characteristic two point boundary value problem to that of the ...

Small Entire Functions with Infinite Growth Index

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 2002
Let \(H(\mathbb C)\) denote the space of all entire functions, endowed with the compact-open topology. For \(f \in H(\mathbb C)\) and \(r>0\) let \(M_f(r):=\max\{|f(z)|: |z|=r\}\). Then the growth of \(m\)-order of \(f\) is defined by \[ \rho_m(f) := \limsup_{r\to\infty}{\frac{\log_{m+1}{M_f(r)}}{\log{r}}} , \] where \(\log_m\) denotes the \(m\)-times ...
