Impact of Strain in Free‐Standing PtSe2 in Scalable 2D MEMS

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Strain tuning of 2D materials such as PtSe2 opens new opportunities for micro‐ and nanoelectromechanical systems (MEMS/NEMS). This study introduces a fabrication method for free‐standing, as‐grown thin‐film channels that bypass mechanical transfer, offering a scalable, universal platform for strain engineering.

Adsorption and Separation by Flexible MOFs

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Flexible metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) present significant potential for gas storage and separation due to their structural dynamic. This review explores the rationale behind the flexible MOFs' enhanced working capacity and separation factors. It also addresses key challenges, including phase transition kinetics, crystal robustness, cycling, shaping,

Infinitely many solutions for fractional Schr\"odinger equations in R^N

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2016
Using variational methods we prove the existence of infinitely many solutions to the fractional Schrodinger equation $$ (-\Delta)^su+V(x)u=f(x,u), \quad x\in\mathbb{R}^N, $$ where $N\ge 2, s\in (0,1)$.

An Ultrapotent, Ultraeconomical, Antifreeze Polypeptide

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Simple and inexpensive polypeptides composed of random copolymers of alanine and glutamic acid are effective antifreezes for applications in foods and biomedicine. The polypeptides, inspired by natural extremophile proteins, inhibit the growth of large ice crystals and prevent damage to sensitive biologics.

Unraveling the Complexity of the Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya Interaction in Layered Magnets: The Full Magnitude and Chirality Control

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
In layered magnets, the atomistic Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya interaction (DMI) depends critically not only on the orbital occupancy of the interface layer but also on the sequence of the atomic layers. The effect can be understood by analyzing the contributions of different orbitals to DMI.
