Down-regulation of peptidylarginine deiminase type 1 in reconstructed human epidermis disturbs nucleophagy in the granular layer and affects barrier function

open access: yesCell Death Discovery, 2023
Deimination is a post-translational modification catalyzed by a family of enzymes named peptidylarginine deiminases (PADs). PADs transform arginine residues of protein substrates into citrulline.

The RNA-binding protein HuR is required for maintenance of the germinal centre response

open access: yesNature Communications, 2021
Germinal centre (GC) responses may require RNA binding proteins (RBP) for post-transcriptional gene regulation. Here the authors show the RBP HuR supports GCs by promoting Myc and Myc-dependent transcription to enhance antigen-specific GC B cell ...

MEMS Inertial Switch for Military Applications

open access: yesProceedings, 2017
We developed a MEMS inertial switch (hereafter, the switch) for an ignition system of missiles. The developed switch consists of four folded beams and a plate suspended by the beams, analogous to a well-known spring-mass system.

Infinity Minus Infinity

open access: yesFaith and Philosophy, 2013
In this note, I consider an argument advanced by William Lane Craig and James D. Sinclair against the possibility of actual infinite collections based on Hilbert’s Hotel and alleged problems with inverse operations in transfinite arithmetic. I aim to show that this argument is misguided, since it is based on a mistaken view that the impossibility of ...

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.
