Pain and functional limitation are frequent in symptomatic tendinopathy. The essential lesion of tendinopathy is a failed healing response. Understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in a failed healing response during the early stages of pathogenesis of tendinopathy would help to develop new and effective treatments.

Severe infection induces both activation of the coagulation system and multiple other inflammatory mediator cascades. This concise review summarizes the current knowledge of mechanisms that are considered to contribute to the procoagulant response to sepsis.

Inflamm-ageing, defined as the chronic low-grade inflammation typical of ageing, seems to be the common biological factor responsible for the decline and the onset of disease in the elderly. The major age-related diseases share a common inflammatory pathogenesis, giving rise to the so-called 'diseasome of inflamm-ageing'.

Thiazolidinediones and inflammation
Lupus, 2005Thiazolidinediones (TZDs) are selective ligands of peroxisome-proliferator-activated receptor g increasingly used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Both in vitro and in vivo studies provide evidence that TZDs have anti-inflammatory properties. TZDs inhibit macrophage activation and decrease inflammatory cytokine expression and release in macrophage
