The study of the Gini concentration ratio by means of the influence function
In this paper the influence function of the Gini concentration ratio is determined. The resulting function is used to verify the robustness properties of the functional, which proves sensitive to the presence of outliers.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

ENSM-SE at CLEF 2006 : Fuzzy Proxmity Method with an Adhoc Influence Function
International audienceWe experiment a new influence function in our information retrieval method that uses the degree of fuzzy proximity of key terms in a document to compute the relevance of the document to the query. The model is based on the idea that

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

The Burr type III distribution allows for a wider region for the skewness and kurtosis plane, which covers several distributions including the log-logistic, and the Weibull and Burr type XII distributions. However, outliers may occur in the data set. The

The ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy as guardians of the cellular proteome
This Perspective covers the three principles governing the crosstalk between the ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy in cellular proteostasis: (1) a shared ubiquitin code routing substrates via shuttle factors or autophagy receptors; (2) spatial compartmentalization into phase‐separated degradation hubs and organelle‐specific modules (exemplified

Influence Function of Halfspace Depth
The sensitivity of halfspace depth values and contours to perturbations of the underlying distribution is investigated. The influence function of the halfspace depth of any point x[set membership, variant]p is bounded and discontinuous; it is constant ...

An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

The physical dimensions and shape of bacterial cells define the surface area available to acquire nutrients and the volume available for synthesizing proteins and DNA. Here, we use computational systems biology to decode the importance of cell geometry as a major determinant of prokaryotic phenotype, including growth rate and metabolic efficiency. This

Influence function and asymptotic efficiency of the affine equivariant rank covariance matrix. [PDF]
Visuri et al (2001) proposed and illustrated the use of the affine equivariant rank covariance matrix (RCM) in classical multivariate inference problems.
