Identification of Unique Blood and Urine Biomarkers in Influenza Virus and Co-infection: A Preliminary Study

open access: yesBiomarker Insights, 2010
Each year, there are estimated to be approximately 200,000 hospitalizations and 36,000 deaths due to influenza in the United States. Reports have indicated that most deaths are not directly due to influenza virus, but to secondary bacterial pneumonia ...

Phylogeographic analysis of Influenza D virus evolution

open access: yes
Abstract Influenza D virus (IDV), first identified in 2011 and primarily affecting cattle, has since been detected in a wide range of mammalian hosts and geographic regions. Despite widespread circulation in domestic cattle, the virus’s evolutionary history and global migration dynamics remain poorly understood.

NARFL Knockout Triggers Ferroptosis‐Driven Vascular Endothelial Dysfunction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
NARFL is vital for CIA and oxidative stress resistance. NARFL deletion in HPMEC cells, zebrafish, and mice is lethal and rescued by a Ferroptosis inhibitor. NARFL deficiency disrupted its interaction with CIA proteins, decreased aconitase activity, increased IRP1 activity, induced Fe overload, and led to ferroptosis and oxidative stress, resulting in ...

Circular RNA PTPN4 Contributes to Blood‐Brain Barrier Disruption during Early Epileptogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Epileptic condition induces CircPTPN4 upregulation, which promotes ECE‐1 expression through competitive sequestration of miR‐145a‐5p. The elevated ECE‐1 catalyzes the ET‐1 production, leading to p38/MAPK pathway activation and subsequent downregulation of tight junction protein expression. This cascade results in increased BBB permeability and enhanced

Delta Opioid Receptors within the Cortico‐Thalamic Circuitry Underlie Hyperactivity Induced by High‐Dose Morphine

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Morphine activates the excitatory cingulate cortex–intermediate rostrocaudal division of zona incerta (Cg‐ZIm) pathway to drive hyperlocomotion in mice. Inhibiting the Cg‐ZIm pathway attenuates both acute and chronic morphine‐induced hyperlocomotion, while its activation mimics morphine's motor effects.

BioCNTs Mediated Delivery of Systemically Mobile Small RNAs via Leaf Spray to Control Both Tomato DNA and RNA Viruses

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A carbon nanotube‐based biopesticide system (BioCNTs) enables efficient delivery and systemic movement of RNAi molecules to control major tomato viruses. By integrating shRNA and tRNA‐like structures (TLS) with BioCNTs, this green and scalable approach achieves long‐term silencing and high antiviral efficacy through simple foliar spraying.

NFS1 Regulates IDH2 to Attenuate Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms via Interacting With SP2

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The loss of NFS1 leads to its reduced binding with the transcription factor SP2, resulting in decreased expression of the downstream gene Idh2. This causes a shift in energy supply toward glycolysis in VSMCs, ultimately contributing to the occurrence and progression of AAA.
