The noncoding region of the genome plays a key role in regulating gene expression, and mutations within these regions are capable of altering it. Researchers have identified multiple functional noncoding mutations associated with increased cancer risk in the genome of breast cancer patients.

Pain: A Culturally Informed Experience [PDF]
I was raised in North America ‐ a culture and society in which the education emphasizes knowledge about science, its methods and its principles. The scientific method of understanding, coupled with the rudimentary knowledge that I was taught in high school biology, resulted in my conceptualization of pain as an objective truth.

Enablers of Information Security Culture
AbstractThe aim of our article is to provide arguments for a poly-contextual and dynamic approach to information security risk culture. We consider the correlation of memes as DNA (DeoxyriboNucleic Acid) of the mind with knowledge and the organizational context. Our approach is interpretivist, reflective and dialectic (Cecez-Kecmanovic, 2011). It seeks

ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.
