Motivation and Information Design
SSRN Electronic Journal, 2017I model a benevolent planner who motivates a time-inconsistent agent by only committing to provide feedback. The optimal feedback mechanism always takes the simple form of recommending an action. I also provide conditions for when the optimal feedback mechanism takes the simple form of a cutoff.

Information Technology and Organization Design
Journal of Information Technology, 1995This paper pursues the growing importance of information technology within the field of organization design. We propose a new macrotheory model, examine the leading approaches to organization design regarding their treatment of IT innovations and propose an eclectic design process that incorporates IT during redesign projects.

Clinical Trials, 2005
Background Expressions to determine the sample size N needed to provide power 1 to detect a difference between groups, say, involve other nuisance parameters, such as the variance of the observations for a test or means, or the control group probability for a test of proportions or the control group hazard rate for a logrank test of event-times ...

Design considerations for a network of information
Proceedings of the 2008 ACM CoNEXT Conference on - CONEXT '08, 2008The existing Internet ecosystem is a result of decades of evolution. It has managed to scale well beyond the original aspirations. Evolution, though, highlighted a certain degree of inadequacies that is well documented. In this position paper we present the design considerations for a re-architected global networking architecture which delivers ...

Correlated Information and Mecanism Design
Econometrica, 1992Summary: In most models of asymmetric information, possession of private information leads to rents for the possessors. This tends to induce mechanism designers to distort away from efficiency. We show that this is an artifact of the presumption that information is independently distributed. Rent extraction in a large class of mechanism design games is

Designing reliability information flows
Reliability Engineering & System Safety, 2005It is well-known [Reliab. Eng. Syst. Saf. 75 (2002) 295] that in modern development processes it is essential to have an information flow structure that facilitates fast feedback from product users (customers) to departments at the front end, in particular development and production.

Information generation during design: Information importance and design effort
Artificial Intelligence for Engineering Design, Analysis and Manufacturing, 2005The present paper studies the process of information generation during design and focuses on the relationship between the information importance and the required effort for its generation. Multiple associative relationships among design entities (handled as design descriptors) are used to represent the design knowledge.

Design for the Information Society
2011The aim of this paper is to discuss the acomplishments of contemporary design, focusing on its flexibilible and adaptative features - meeting demands of migrating, mobile societies. With the expansion and popularization of information and communication technologies in the last decades, traditional space-use patterns evolved.

Design + Information: the state of information
Art Libraries Journal, 1991An insufficient flow of information leads to inadequately designed products. There are several reasons why designers do not receive good information. Designers have no training in research, and rarely conduct their own research studies. They therefore must rely on research performed by persons in other fields.
