Linear choosability of graphs [PDF]

open access: yesDiscrete Mathematics & Theoretical Computer Science, 2005
A proper vertex coloring of a non oriented graph $G=(V,E)$ is linear if the graph induced by the vertices of two color classes is a forest of paths. A graph $G$ is $L$-list colorable if for a given list assignment $L=\{L(v): v∈V\}$, there exists a proper

Multi-scale magnetic field intermittence in the plasma sheet [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
This paper demonstrates that intermittent magnetic field fluctuations in the plasma sheet exhibit transitory, localized, and multi-scale features. We propose a multifractal based algorithm, which quantifies intermittence on the basis of the statistical ...

‘Everything is a signal’: speaking circuits and noisy signs in the making of language‐oriented AI « Tout est signal » : circuits parlants et signes bruyants dans la création de l'IA orientée langage

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Anthropological Institute, EarlyView.
Contemporary artificial intelligence (AI) technologies are often presumed to be capable of revealing unmediated truths about the world, including the truths language might hold, echoing the long‐standing assertion that language's primary function is to directly translate reality.

Treatment Outcome Prediction Using Multi-Task Learning: Application to Botulinum Toxin in Gait Rehabilitation

open access: yesSensors, 2022
We propose a framework for optimizing personalized treatment outcomes for patients with neurological diseases. A typical consequence of such diseases is gait disorders, partially explained by command and muscle tone problems associated with spasticity ...

Psilocybin in alcohol use disorder and comorbid depressive symptoms: Results from a feasibility randomized clinical trial

open access: yesAddiction, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and Aims Psilocybin has emerged as a potential treatment for alcohol use disorder (AUD), but early efficacy data are inconsistent. Depression following alcohol detoxification significantly increases the risk of relapse. This pilot study aimed to evaluate the feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary efficacy of psilocybin‐assisted

Towards a More User-friendly Correction

open access: yes, 1994
We first present our view of detection and correction of syntactic errors. We then introduce a new correction method, based on heuristic criteria used to decide which correction should be preferred.

Scale‐robust fibre orientation analysis of hair using two‐dimensional Fourier transform

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, EarlyView.
We present a simple and robust method to quantify hair fibre orientation using 2D‐DFT. It works with standard images and extracts directional features at multiple scales. This enables objective evaluation of cosmetic treatments and product effects. Abstract Objective To address the current lack of standardized tools for evaluating hair appearance in ...

A Timing Model for Fast French [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Models of speech timing are of both fundamental and applied interest. At the fundamental level, the prediction of time periods occupied by syllables and segments is required for general models of speech prosody and segmental structure.

Bio‐active designed peptide for hair keratin strengthening

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, EarlyView.
Bioactive tripeptides through in silico screening revealed KCV (Tripeptide‐132) as the most promising keratin‐targeting candidate. Experimental studies confirmed its superior hair‐strengthening performance with 44% tensile strength enhancement, 50% breakage reduction, improved surface integrity and fibre penetration.
