Iron Energy Carrier: Experimental Characterisation, Combustion Diagnostic and Benchmarking with Other Clean Metal Fuels

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
This study investigates how iron particles burn across a wide size range, revealing late‐stage nanoparticle release and a previously unrecognised shift in combustion behaviour near 118 µm. High‐speed imaging, PMT diagnostics and SEM analyses have been conducted.

Brain–Computer Interfaces: The Dawn of a New Era in Disease Treatment

open access: yesExploration, EarlyView.
This study investigates the potential of brain–computer interface (BCI) technology in treating neuropsychiatric disorders, such as movement and communication barriers. Our review examines the history, signal paradigms, and diverse applications of BCI while also discussing ongoing research into novel materials and emerging technologies that offer ...

Silicon monoxide in the filamentary infrared dark cloud G035.39-00.33: An ALMA view

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics
Aims. Filamentary infrared dark clouds (IRDCs) are believed to represent the initial conditions for massive star and cluster formation. Methods. We investigated the IRDC G035.39-00.33 using SiO, H13CO+, CH3OH, and CS emission observed with ALMA at 3.5 ...

Pulsed Light Technology in Food Safety and Preservation: Principles, Applications, and Future Directions

open access: yesFood Chemistry International, EarlyView.
Pulsed light technology uses short high‐intensity broad‐spectrum flashes (200–1100 nm) to inactivate microbes via DNA damage. It preserves food quality, extends shelf life, and works on liquids, meats, and produce, often combined with other hurdles for enhanced efficacy.

Magnetic Fields in the Bones of the Milky Way

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Stars primarily form in galactic spiral arms within dense, filamentary molecular clouds. The largest and most elongated of these molecular clouds are referred to as “bones,” which are massive, velocity-coherent filaments (lengths ∼20 to >100 pc, widths ...

Widespread SiO and CH3OH emission in filamentary infrared dark clouds

open access: yes, 2018
Infrared dark clouds (IRDCs) are cold, dense regions of high (optical and infrared) extinction, believed to be the birthplace of high-mass stars and stellar clusters.

The Resolved Structure of a Low-metallicity Photodissociation Region

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Photodissociation regions (PDRs) are key to understanding the feedback processes that shape interstellar matter in galaxies. One important type of PDR is the interface between H ii regions and molecular clouds, where far-ultraviolet radiation from ...

Fabrication of electrospun PVDF nanofibrous membrane for filtration of coconut inflorescence sap

open access: yesFood Biomacromolecules, EarlyView.
Electrospinning conditions for polyvinylidene difluoride (PVDF) nanofibrous membrane were optimized. The polymer solution's properties were analyzed. The developed membranes' average pore size was 478–543 nm. A fabricated membrane was used for the filtration of coconut inflorescence sap.
