Discovery of a Rich Population of Compact Hub-filament Systems in a Single Star-forming Complex

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
We report the discovery of 45 compact hub-filament systems (HFSs; median size ∼2.4 pc) in infrared-dark clouds (IRDCs) in the W33 complex, located at the junction of the Scutum and Norma spiral arms.

Ginseng polysaccharides prevent mastitis through Lactobacillus murinus‐derived deoxycholic acid and TGR5 signaling

open access: yesiMetaOmics, EarlyView.
Prebiotic Ginseng polysaccharides (GP) alleviate mastitis through selective enrichment of gut L. murinus, which elevates its anti‐inflammatory metabolite deoxycholic acid (DCA). Circulating DCA engages mammary epithelial TGR5 receptors, triggering the cAMP–PKA pathway to suppress NF‐κB/NLRP3‐mediated inflammation.

Tin‐based perovskite light‐emitting diodes: Progress and perspective

open access: yesInfoScience, EarlyView.
This review assesses tin‐based perovskite light‐emitting diodes (PeLEDs), focusing on the limitations of Sn2+ oxidation–induced defects and uncontrolled crystallization. By evaluating advanced device engineering and structural innovations, this article highlights their viability in narrowband pure‐red displays and near‐infrared optical communication ...

Charge transport manipulation of lead‐free perovskite A3Sb2X9 single crystal for stable and sensitive x‐ray detection

open access: yesInfoMat, EarlyView.
Low‐dimensional perovskites can effectively improve device stability and reduce leakage current, showing broad application prospects in the field of high‐energy radiation detection. In this work, high‐quality and large‐size lead‐free A3Sb2X9 single crystals were grown via a solution method, and the modulation mechanism of charge transport was ...

Decadal Changes of UV Aerosol Optical Depth in Hobart, Australia Measured With a Brewer MKIII: Relationship to Bushfire Events and Climate Indices

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, EarlyView.
Monthly average aerosol optical depth at 320 nm obtained with a Brewer MKIII spectrophotometer for Hobart, Australia (42.8806° S, 147.3250° E) over a 21‐year period. There is a linear trend of 15.4% per decade. There are 9 months when the average aerosol optical depth exceeds twice the monthly standard deviation.

Coal Mining as a Driver of Land Use and Land Cover Change and Degradation: A Case in Moatize City, Mozambique

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Coal remains a major global energy source despite ongoing environmental controversies, particularly, regarding climate change and landscape transformation. This study investigates the spatiotemporal dynamics of land use and land cover (LULC) in the Moatize Coal Basin (MCB), Mozambique, between 1990 and 2024, with a specific focus on land ...

Spatial Variability of Permafrost and Active Layer Thickness in a Forested Hillslope of the Taiga Shield

open access: yesPermafrost and Periglacial Processes, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Under continued climate warming, understanding present‐day permafrost distribution and the controls on ground thaw are critical for predicting permafrost thaw trajectories and associated implications. This study presents a high‐resolution investigation of permafrost extent and active layer thickness (ALT) across a coniferous forested hillslope

A review of the FATIMA Yellow Sea field campaign research

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
The FATIMA marine fog project took place over the Sable Island region of eastern Canada (summer 2022) and the Yellow Sea of the Republic of Korea (ROK, summer 2023). Its goals are to improve marine fog monitoring and forecasting. Instrumented multiple research vessels, aircraft, tethered balloon and autonomous systems, ocean observation sites, and ...

Herschel studies of infrared dark clouds and cores in the Hi-GAL Survey [PDF]

open access: yes
High mass stars affect their environments on a large scale. However, the processes behind the formation of high mass stars are still relatively poorly understood compared to their low mass counterparts.
