Effect of low-level laser therapy on the membrane induced by the Masquelet technique at an orthotopic site in rabbits

open access: yesActa Cirúrgica Brasileira, 2021
Purpose: To evaluate the low-level laser therapy (LLLT) on the membrane induced by the Masquelet technique in rabbits. Methods: Twelve Norfolk rabbits at approximately 3 months of age were used.

Interactions of ultrahigh-energy cosmic rays with photons in the galactic center

open access: yes, 2005
Ultrahigh-energy cosmic rays passing through the central region of the Galaxy interact with starlight and the infrared photons. Both nuclei and protons generate secondary fluxes of photons and neutrinos on their passage through the central region.

THE MAN BEHIND THE CURTAIN: X-RAYS DRIVE THE UV THROUGH NIR VARIABILITY IN THE 2013 ACTIVE GALACTIC NUCLEUS OUTBURST IN NGC 2617 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
After the All-Sky Automated Survey for SuperNovae discovered a significant brightening of the inner region of NGC 2617, we began a ∼70 day photometric and spectroscopic monitoring campaign from the X-ray through near-infrared (NIR) wavelengths. We report

Nanoparticle‐Coated X2CrNiMo17‐12‐2 Powder for Additive Manufacturing – Part I: Surface, Flowability, and Optical Properties of SiC, Si, and Si3N4 Coated Metal Powders

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Herein, silicon‐based nanoparticle coatings on X2CrNiMo17‐12‐2 metal powder are presented. The coating process scale, process parameters, nanoparticle size (65–200 nm) as well as the coating amount are discussed regarding powder properties. The surface roughness affects the flowability, while reflectance depends on the coating material and surface ...

The effect of the infrared excess from the Be star on inverse Compton gamma-ray production in PSR B1259-63/SS 2883 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The binary system PSR B1259-63 consists of a 48 ms pulsar in a 3.4 year orbit around a Be star and unpulsed TeV gamma-ray emission has been detected near previous periastron passages. A likely source of the gamma-rays is the inverse Compton up-scattering of target photons from the Be star by the ultra-relativistic electron/positron pulsar wind in the ...

Fluorinated Graphene‐Coated N95 Respirators for Enhanced Protection against Viral Accumulation and Transmission

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We develop a one‐step spray coating approach to coat the fluorinated graphene (FG) nanosheet onto the N95 respirators. The spray‐coated superhydrophobic N95 respirators can effectively repel respiratory droplets off instantaneously and prevent SARS‐CoV‐2 virus accumulation on the surface.

Cosmic Rays, Gamma-Rays, and Neutrinos in the Starburst Nuclei of Arp 220 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The cores of Arp 220, the closest ultra-luminous infrared starburst galaxy, provide an opportunity to study interactions of cosmic rays under extreme conditions. In this paper, we model the populations of cosmic rays produced by supernovae in the central molecular zones of both starburst nuclei.

Heat transparent high intensity high efficiency solar cell [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
An improved solar cell design is described. A surface of each solar cell has a plurality of grooves. Each groove has a vertical face and a slanted face that is covered by a reflecting metal.

Enhanced Mechanical Properties of Injectable Chitosan–Guar Gum Hydrogel Reinforced with Bacterial Cellulose Nanofibers for Tissue Engineering Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents the development and characterization of injectable nanocomposite hydrogels based on N‐succinyl chitosan, oxidized guar gum, and bacterial cellulose nanofibers. Emphasizing enhanced mechanical properties and biocompatibility, the hydrogels exhibit fast gelation, improved structural integrity, and reduced swelling. Their potential for

Optical properties of ternary alloys MgZnO in infrared spectrum

open access: yesSemiconductor Physics, Quantum Electronics & Optoelectronics, 2018
Properties of thin films of ternary alloys Mg х Zn 1–х O on the optically-anisotropic Al 2 O 3 substrates in the area of “residual rays” of film and substrate are first investigated using the method of infrared spectroscopy and dispersion analysis of ...
