X-Optogenetics and U-Optogenetics: Feasibility and Possibilities

open access: yesPhotonics, 2015
Optogenetics is an established technique that uses visible light to modulate membrane voltage in neural cells. Although optogenetics allows researchers to study parts of the brain like never before, it is limited because it is invasive, and visible light

The hard X-ray view of bright infrared galaxies

open access: yes, 2009
Aims. The synthesis of the cosmic X-ray background (CXB) requires a large population of Compton-thick active galactic nuclei that have not been detected so far.

Ferrocene Derivatives Enable Ultrasensitive Perovskite Photodetectors with Enhanced Reverse Bias Stability

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Novel ferrocene derivatives (e.g., FcPhc2) are used as an ultrathin layer hole‐blocking layer, reducing hole injection from the Ag contact. This results in an ultralow noise spectral density of 1.2 × 10−14 A Hz−1/2, and a high specific detectivity of 8.1 × 1012 Jones at −0.5 V.

Discussion on Optical Microscope Imaging Modes and a Cold Light Source Device by Using Frequency Splitting and Compose

open access: yesYankuang ceshi, 2014
Halogen lamps, pure water filtered heat rays and LED are the main conventional light sources for the optical microscope. Halogen lamp light source contains a lot of infrared rays from 760 to 1400 nm.

Intermolecular Interactions as Driving Force of Increasing Multiphoton Absorption in a Perylene Diimide‐Based Coordination Polymer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study uncovers the unexplored role of intermolecular interactions in multiphoton absorption in coordination polymers. By analyzing [Zn2tpda(DMA)2(DMF)0.3], it shows how the electronic coupling of the chromophores and confinement in the MOF enhance two‐and three‐photon absorption.

Upper Limits on the Extragalactic Background Light from the Gamma-Ray Spectra of Blazars

open access: yes, 2005
The direct measurement of the extragalactic background light (EBL) is difficult at optical to infrared wavelengths because of the strong foreground radiation originating in the Solar System.

Propagation of ultrahigh energy nuclei in clusters of galaxies: resulting composition and secondary emissions

open access: yes, 2009
We study the survival of ultrahigh energy nuclei injected in clusters of galaxies, as well as their secondary neutrino and photon emissions, using a complete numerical propagation method and a realistic modeling of the magnetic, baryonic and photonic ...
