For active galactic nuclei (AGNs) we study the role of the mechanism of quasi-linear diffusion (QLD) in producing the high energy emission in the MeV-GeV domains strongly connected with the submillimeter/infrared radiation.

Development of SiC Nanocomposites Using Direct Ink Writing Process
Herein, feedstock inks containing polycarbosilane and various concentrations of SiC nanoparticles (SiCnp) are investigated for fabricating ceramic matrix composites using a DIW 3D printing process. Characterization results from physical measurement, microstructure analysis, and thermal and flexural testing suggested that high‐performance CMC samples ...

The interaction of intense femtosecond pulses with metals allows for generating ultrashort hard x-rays. In contrast to plasma theories, tunneling from the target into vacuum is introduced as electron generation step, followed by vacuum acceleration in ...

Sunscreens: Time to think beyond UV rays
It has been known to us that solar radiation contributes to photoaging. Until recently, it was thought to be due to ultraviolet rays alone. However, a growing number of evidence confirms that visible and infrared (IR) rays also contribute to extrinsic ...

Graded refractive index (GRI) structures are prepared from the layer‐by‐layer spray coating of the mesoporous SiO2 nanoparticles, showing high solar transparency and thermal emissivity. Under outdoor conditions, after 50 days, the GRI‐coated photovoltaics show on average 6.65 ± 1.48 °C lower than that of the non‐coated references, maintaining 80.9 ± 8 ...

Peering through the dust II: $XMM-Newton$ observations of two additional FIRST-2MASS red quasars
We obtained $XMM-Newton$ observations of two highly luminous dust-reddened quasars, F2M1113+1244 and F2M1656+3821, that appear to be in the early, transitional phase predicted by merger-driven models of quasar/galaxy co-evolution. These sources have been

The formate pseudo‐halide anion is strategically introduced at the buried interface to stabilize the intermediate phases formed during perovskite crystallization. The controlled crystallization enhances crystallinity and alleviates tensile strain, eliminating residual PbI2 near the buried interface.

PBTTT‐OR‐R, a C14‐alkoxy/alkyl‐PBTTT polymer derivative, is of substantial interest for optoelectronics due to its specific fullerene intercalation behavior and enhanced charge‐transfer absorption. Comparing this polymer with (S) and without (O) homocoupling defects reveals that PBTTT‐OR‐R(O) forms stable co‐crystals with PC61BM, while PBTTT‐OR‐R(S ...

Probing Intergalactic Magnetic Fields in the GLAST Era through Pair Echo Emission from TeV Blazars
More than a dozen blazars are known to be emitters of multi-TeV gamma rays, often with strong and rapid flaring activity. By interacting with photons of the cosmic microwave and infrared backgrounds, these gamma rays inevitably produce electron-positron ...
