The rhythms of infrastructure [PDF]

open access: yesAnthropology Today, 2016
Technology organizes social life in different ways. This article focuses on the temporal ordering brought about by household energy technologies and the broader infrastructures upon which they depend. Such technology saves time, and the energy services so provided allow for comfort, flexibility and the independence from natural rhythms. While many such

Towards Fully Intelligent Transportation through Infrastructure-Vehicle Cooperative Autonomous Driving: Challenges and Opportunities [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
The infrastructure-vehicle cooperative autonomous driving approach depends on the cooperation between intelligent roads and intelligent vehicles. This approach is not only safer but also more economical compared to the traditional on-vehicle-only autonomous driving approach.

Activation of SIRT1 Reduces Renal Tubular Epithelial Cells Fibrosis in Hypoxia Through SIRT1‐FoxO1‐FoxO3‐Autophagy Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
Hypoxia promotes the epithelial‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) of renal tubular epithelial cells via the SIRT1‐FoxO1‐FoxO3‐autophagy pathway, thereby resulting in the fibrosis of renal tubular epithelial cells. Activation of SIRT1 or induction of autophagy inhibits this process, alleviating hypoxia‐induced fibrosis.

Research on Seismic Performance of Frame Structure with Beam Staircases

open access: yesBuildings, 2022
Beam staircases are widely used in frame structures. In structural design, stair flights are often ignored in the model establishment, and their loads are only added to the stair beams.

Determining the Necessity of Post‐Processing Heat Treatment for the 316L Stainless Steel Manufactured by Laser Powder Bed Fusion through Evaluation of Mechanical and Corrosion Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article examines the effect of postprocessing heat treatment on 316L stainless steel (SS316L) produced via laser powder bed fusion (LPBF). Heat treatment slightly affects property anisotropy, reduces strength, and enhances elongation. However, it increases corrosion susceptibility due to nanoscale precipitations, though overall corrosion ...
