Large-volume intrathecal administrations: impact on CSF pressure and safety implications [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
The increasing number of studies demonstrates the high potency of the intrathecal (IT) route for the delivery of biopharmaceuticals to the central nervous system (CNS). Our earlier data exhibited that both the infused volume and the infusion rate can regulate the initial disposition of the administered solute within the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF).

Managing pregnancy with long‐term parenteral nutrition: A case report and review of the literature

open access: yesJournal of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, EarlyView.
Abstract Parenteral nutrition (PN) is essential for patients with chronic intestinal failure but poses significant challenges during pregnancy because of increased nutrition needs and associated risks such as central line–associated bloodstream infections. We report a case of a 29‐year‐old primigravid woman with Crohn's disease who required chronic PN.

Evidence and unknowns for the relevancy of applying current parenteral nutrition support recommendations among infants born less than 750 g or younger than 25 weeks' gestation: A narrative review

open access: yesJournal of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, EarlyView.
Abstract With advancements in neonatal care, the viability of extremely low‐birth‐weight (ELBW) infants, especially those born extremely preterm, is increasing. However, specific recommendations for managing parenteral nutrition (PN) support in nanopreterm infants (<750 g or <25 weeks' gestation) are lacking.

Delay in desmopressin therapy: Disaster in waiting

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Pharmacy and Therapeutics, Volume 47, Issue 12, Page 2376-2378, December 2022., 2022
There is little information on the onset of hypernatremia after withdrawal of desmopressin. We present a case of an elderly woman with central DI whose serum sodium jumped from 141 to 171 mEq/L after 48‐72 h of holding oral desmopressin. Based on this precipitous onset of DI crisis, we recommend not withholding desmopressin for more than 24 h. Abstract
