Acute Exacerbation of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Immediately After Extubation Following Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy: A Case Report

ABSTRACT In patients with moderate‐to‐severe COPD, short‐term (1‐day) preoperative respiratory optimization may be insufficient to prevent acute exacerbation after extubation. Prolonged preoperative preparation, meticulous intraoperative lung‐protective ventilation, and a post‐extubation rapid‐response protocol are essential.

Isolated Cerebral Mucormycosis Mimicking Meningioma in an Uncontrolled Diabetic Patient: A Case Report

ABSTRACT In a poorly controlled diabetic patient, isolated cerebral mucormycosis can mimic a meningioma on magnetic resonance imaging. The absence of a dural attachment at surgery was the first clue against meningioma, and histopathology was diagnostic. Early resection, antifungal therapy, and glycemic control were associated with a favorable outcome.
