Inherent optical properties and particle characteristics of the sea-surface microlayer

Progress in Oceanography, 2019
The sea-surface microlayer (SML) is known to have physical, chemical, and biological properties that are distinctly different from the underlying subsurface water (USW).

Inherent optical properties of Jerlov water types.

Applied Optics, 2015
The diffuse attenuation coefficient Kd(λ) was first expressed in terms of the inherent optical properties (IOPs) of water according to well-established empirical bio-optical models. Boltzmann simulated annealing was then used to find the best sets of IOPs to fit Kd(λ) spectra to the reference spectra Kd0(λ) that define the Jerlov water types ...

Nanostructured SnS with inherent anisotropic optical properties for high photoactivity.

Nanoscale, 2016
Tin(ii) sulfide is a fascinating solar energy material due to its anisotropic material properties. In this manuscript, we report on exploiting the 2D structure modulated optical properties of nanocrystalline SnS thin film synthesis by chemical spray pyrolysis using ambient transport in the harvesting of solar energy.

Evaluation of trophic state for inland waters through combining Forel-Ule index and inherent optical properties.

Science of the Total Environment, 2022
Eutrophication is a severe environmental pollution problem for inland waters and poses significant threats to the water safety. Monitoring trophic state of inland waters using optical remote sensing generally requires the inversion of water quality ...

Tuning the (Chir)optical Properties and Squeezing out the Inherent Chirality in Polyphenylene-Locked Helical Carbon Nanorings.

Chemistry, 2022
Distorting linear polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) out of planarity affects their physical properties and breaks their symmetry to induce inherent chirality.

Error decomposition and estimation of inherent optical properties

Applied Optics, 2009
We describe a methodology to quantify and separate the errors of inherent optical properties (IOPs) derived from ocean-color model inversion. Their total error is decomposed into three different sources, namely, model approximations and inversion, sensor noise, and atmospheric correction.
